Thread: So this Combat revamp you speak of...

So anyway, I haven't heard alot about this revamp thats supposedly coming. Are the special move costs going to be changed? Hopefully so. I don't care much about anything else, I for one think that our defense is pretty decent and even our offense isnt that bad. But the only problem I have with ANY class ESPECIALLY this one is the HAM costs for my special moves. Even when not wearing any armor and using a low cost gaffi stick (42 health is all i remember right now) Every bodyhit 2 i use costs me 85-120 health. Now I know that my stats can be changed to make those numbers a few points lower, but the problem is I have a bit lower move costs, great. But now those points have to come out of my HAM bars so when I'm dueling my friend in 80% comp and 1000 900 800 HAM I'm sittin there with only a few pieces of armor on because my stats cant handle it with around 770 770 620 HAM. But oh yea my special moves are pretty low cost damn its nice, it almost distracts me from the fact that my friend just killed me in 3 hits (swordsman 1 4 0 2.
Usually in duels I can COB (which costs a hella ton anyway) and it can buy me time to get in a blind and spam my strongest specials while he's missing like crazy, but meanwhile my health is being drained HEAVILY by the fast specials and my mind is being drained just as much by the COB. So yea our defense is great and I'm only 1 2 2 1 fencer, but special moves are the thing that completely screws us in pvp. Are there plans to change the HAM costs for special moves? I mean I know they shouldnt be free because apparently the jedi are the only ones gifted with that ability, but like idunno, there needs to be something else that doesnt totally punish us for using our specials. Before when i said ESPECIALLY fencer I meant especially fencer because I thought we were the lightwieghts of melee, like really fast but moderately weak offense. We are really fast but moderately weak offense thats great, but our costs are about the same as the other professions they just drain us faster and with less damage to THEM.
So thats my rant, anyone agree with me? Because other than HAM costs and Combat medics I think pvp is great.

The devs have stated that they didnt want people to spam specials like crazy, I can see why they wouldnt always want people doing full damage but com'on. If you couldnt spam specials do you know how long PVP fights and fights against like Krayt Dragons would be? I really hope that once they rebalance armor and buffs that they make it so we can still spam specials just a little bit but just have to take breaks like every 2 minutes for like 30 seconds or something.

It pays to do a little research before hand.
Armor and buffs are getting the nerf. Our special costs won't come from our HAM pools but a seperate, special attack meter. It drains quickly but it also regens quickly.
Also mitigation is being removed, from what I heard.

Practically everything will be changed, armour, speed, costs, and we will have a new 'specials' bar so we will no longer be damaging our HAM bar when performing specials. This bar will refill quite quickly but it means we will no longer simply spam specials, even carrying out actions like standing up will probably have costs. All of this is to add more strategy to combat.

God removeing migrations is going to hurt, but atleast with the buff nerf powerboost might actually be worth something.
I wonder how a CoB macro will workin the new system... well if there even is such a thing as CoB after they are done with us

I doubt they will remove mitigation.. it has been added for a very very good reason, and the devs has never shown any intent to remove it.
ps: for the people who have been here some while: do you remeber when krayt fwg's were the kings of pvp? well, thats why they added mitigation 
pps: they might change something to tka, since its the only prof not heavily affect by it... (their weapons always get 250dmg [at master]added ot both min and plus, and that dmg isnt subject to mitigation)

we cant say tk is imbalanced or gets cheated, youll bring forth the wrath of the Hit3 Spamist!
Or better yet, they might do a kinetic slap on your head.. 
I remember krayt fwg5's, and I remember multi-sliced, no mit needs to stay, and jedi need to quit complaining

Check up on recent dev posts, its getting removed.
And VKs are subjected to mitigation while their bare hands are not.

Mitigation is going the way of the Doe Doe. The devs flat out said that mitigation will eventually be a thing of the past. Its only a matter of what defense its going to be replaced by or some other dynamic that we dont know about. Of course that also means we as fencers will be able to do alot more damage in PvP while still having good defenses.
