because the cries of outrage from the rest of the community would result in a swift kick of a nerf bat at Fencer, which isn't fair to normal fencers who could care less about Jedi.

Being a huge fan of fencers (being a master myself), and jedi (also one) I had made some observations about some NPCs that make me think.
1. FS NPCs can use lightsaber specials with normal weapons.
2. FS skills give melee speed and accuracy bonuses that work with both light sabers and fencer weapons.
3. Jedi can use berserk, intimidate, warcry, and tauntfrom the brawler trees while the lightsaber is equipted.
4. While playing as a Fencer (curved sword, my favorite) I can use my jedi powers (healing, enhance etc).
So why can a Master fencer with the knowledge of 1-h lightsaber not be able to use fencer styles with the lightsaber and lightsaber styles with the fencer weapons? Do you think they should? Why or why not?
Personally I think they should, the knowledge of the force allows you to control the saber, but the knowledge of master fencer gives you the muscle memory to move correctly and knowledge of where to strike.

I have long been of the oppinion that Fencer Specials should be able to be used with 1handedsaber, Swordsman specials with 2handedsaber, and Pikeman specials with doublesaber.
And of the reverse.
But I've also been of the oppinion that Gen 1 Sabers should be useable (not craftable or repairable or crystals atuneable) by Masters of each of the respective Melee Professions.
Sabers can be used by non Jedi, there is a whole society of Noblility who are non Force Sensitive that created Light Sabers to begin with.
Though they were called Light Foils.
And of the reverse.
But I've also been of the oppinion that Gen 1 Sabers should be useable (not craftable or repairable or crystals atuneable) by Masters of each of the respective Melee Professions.

I've seen that term "Light Foils" tossed around a few times in here. Where did it come from? Which infor source I mean?

I can't remember if it's the (written, in the box) manual or initial character creation process mentioning it, but I can swear I read something about fencers being able to use laser swords, swordsmen lightsabers. I actually spent my first two days looking for a laser sword, thinking it was a light (no pun intented) weight version of the lightsabre. Anyway, it seems very feasible using those one/two hand and pole attacks with your chosen lightsabre, realistic in fact.

Also in the triliogy written by Timothy Zahn i believe there is a part where Han and Leia are on Kassyykk and Han ignites the light saber and uses it in combat for a brief second.
The idea of the specials is a valid point however the game mechanics would be borked. You'd have a bunch of master saberists with 1handed sabers (which hit mind i believe) and using full composite. As it is now jedi specials use Force to perform thus forcing the jedi to wear his robes vs armor.
In a game w/o pvp yes it'd be nice to have however in the game and its current set up then no its just not gonna work as it would create even more overpowered players.
