'Cause my guy is mostly a marksman- on the way to cammando-and I think it would be cool to whip out a dagger for close combat rather than a sword.Are swords the only way to go?

remeber you move faster and more effiecent with smaller weapon. This means combos like lunge and dizzy hit come off faster. You may not win a damage race with a person using a bigger weapon but if you have knocked them on their back where they cant get up it doesnt matter. I look forward to seeing a fully experimented and powered up vibroblade can do.

speed vs damage+range. I'm not sure about the items but pretty much you have to gauge between whether you want to swing faster and do less damage closer up, or swing slower and do more damage, but further away.

The best dagger I've made so far is 30-55 speed 3. The advantage of those is they are made using just Artisan/Artisan Experimentation.

Swords need weaponsmith experimentation , so its going to take a lot longer to get a crafter will the same level of sword crafting as dagger crafting. As a Novice Weaponsmith swords are 21-75 or so speed 4.2 so the dagger actually will outperform it as it is faster and has a tiny specials cost 7/30/7 for the dagger versus 33/35/35 for the sword.

Howeer, eventually as people get more Weaponsmith experimentation points swords will end up always outclassing daggers because there are no advanced dagger types to craft.
