Thread: From the pits of SWG Hell I come... with questions
Greetings all,
Having played many classes since I started playing this game, I eventually settled down within the guise of Bounty Hunter. For many months we were the sore spot on many people's minds thinking that we were the uberest of the uber with the all powerful "eyeshot" (which is a complete myth, I kill more folks with Torso than anywhere close to that of eyeshot). The investigation line of the BH is a complete joke and overall a waste of time... so I've made a decision, I'd like to retire from Bounty Hunting.
Given the newest injection of life into the melee categories, I've started looking hard at melee weapon-ists and have decided to venture out as a Blademaster/Master Gunfighter with some Doctor thrown into the mix as well. My questions however as as follows:
- What sorts of weapons should I start off seeking in order to progress down the Fencer line? Also, if anybody is getting rid of some of those types of weapons on Kauri I'd be willing to give a fair price woth them.
- What sorts of negatives are there to Fencing? I keep reading your posts and there really doesn't seem to be anybody who gripes like Bounty Hunters do. There's a lot of support and very little animosity towards the DEV's (especially now with a well needed fix).
- For those of you who are Doctor/Fencers, what do you go up in for Doctor for buffs? 0-0-0-4? Also, how is the upkeep? I've only got a certain amount of time that I play per week and would rather not spend that time running around to different factories...
Lastly, is the grind from Novice Brawler to Novice Fencer better than the humdrum grind of the Unarmed tree? Thanks for the answers in advance...

1 handed 1 - 4 is cake compared to unarmed 1-4. (which I've now done twice! thank you)
you probably want a nice vibroblade for it's low ham and armor piercing qualities.
a stun baton for for PVP and various 4 legged and 2 legged beasties.
a curved sword to actually look like a fencer ora ninja or something.
and a gaderiffi baton to apply the major beatdown ont he majority of the stuff out there.
negatives? hmm... I guess kiting if you are into PVP.Big pets blocking your view and making it impossible to see and select what you are fighting.... umm... eyeshot! hehehe! I cant think of much else. It's too much fun.
Rro you should make like a Fencer FAQ/guide , or an instructional video or somethin, hehe
There are ppl here much more qualified for that than me.
The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to help other people. You never know just who it is that you are helping and it could pay off big time in the future. It certainly did for me. I thought I was just helping out some poor misguided Wookie by teaming up with him and going out of my way to meet him at the squill cave and various other hunting spots. Turns out he had another character who was a Guild Leader, aMaster Doctor and was sitting on piles and piles of credits and was more than willing to help those who helped him. Now he's a Master Weaponsmith and I'll never have to buy another weapon again. The same goes for armor andmeds as well.My guildmates justgive these things to me now. I try to repay them by helping them get resources butthere is no way I can make up for what they have given me. I never asked for anything, I just accepted the offers and said"Thank you". Now I'm part of the firstplayer city on Shadowfire andI even got to name it!So the simple act of being freindly and helping someone has improved mycharacters lives, changed my gaming style and made life much easier for me than it would have been had I told him to shove it and go hunt squill on his own.
All I'm saying is, everyone has a different set of circumstances, different ideas and different ways to go about things. No one way will be the best way. I can give a few pointers and send you on your way to find your own path. That's all I can do.
Get a curved sword, do not listen to these weaklings who cannot take the HAM costs ![]()
Insane damage and insane speed, my curved sword is far far more efficient than my 220 damage gaderiffi...
As for negatives: We cannot attack mind, we have no armour piercing weapons, most of our weapons are junk, we have no move that simply does the insane damage of the Swordsmen mind-hits, yet they are still almost/as fast as us.
In response to curved sword vs. gaffi stick. I will say that I preferred the curved sword for it's faster speed and higher accuracy up until footwork IV. Then i switched to gaffi, my gaffi is 295 max damage. Haven't seen a curved sword come close and since I can weild the gaffi at the same speed and it has lower mind costs for specials, I find it the way to go.
And to followup on my own post,a vibro and stun baton are important for the right time. The vibro is needed from time to time for the AP1 and the stun I haven't really ran into too many times I needed it but I carry it just in case.
