I am almost novice fancer and this is a question for those blademasters out there. What is the best line to go up first in the fencer tree?

as a novice fencer approaching my first box on test center (when i came to TC i decided i wanted a change from carbineer :/ ) and im thinking i might go up the first line for defense mods and dizzy 2 and duelist title (the coolest fencer title imo)

Hello welcome to fencer

Well i would recommend going up footwork to 3 or 4 for the speed bonuses then getting urself a damage sliced gaffi stick. After that if it was me id go 1-4-1-* and then 1-4-3*. Then it dont see any real advantage from doing one thing here.

Best of Luck

ps. Blademaster is best title not duelist

I dont know i always liked bladeweaver personally. Ok back on topic. First off congrats i remeber how happy i was when i first became a novice fencer. Secondly which tree to go up after the patch depends on personally opinion. Well footwork seems the obvious choice lets rethink it. Its biggest advantage is speed and while that nice one has ask one self how much is it need with low speed weapons of fencer. Unless you plan to use gaffi right off rushing up footwork is not necessarly a great idea. Next we have grips and styles. this provides you scatterhits and defense modifers. While the mods help scatter really doesnt unless your in the right situation which you not normally if you solo. This leaves techiniques. This tree gives you the two staples of body hit 2 and body hit 3 plus now gives you dodge bonuses 15 each box. Personally i would try to go up both footwork and techiniques at the same time if not all three as those two offer in my opinion the easier path. If you are going to go up footwork completely first get techiniques first as bodyhit2 is essential. If you go up techinques first go up to footwork 2 as that speed bonus really helps.

My personally choice right now is the one i choose long ago but didnt realize how right i was. Level all three trees near equally as it gives you more perspective and rounds your character out.It will allow you to have better stats and more options in battle. Of course thats justan opinion of a 2-2-3-2 fencer who started working towards master since the day after launch.

thanks for the info, i earned the box tonight and im still not decided, i guess im between footwork and technique, on the one hand you got a bleed attack, and on the other you got a health attack, at footwork 2 you get some awsome mods which would allow for a curved sliced for damage and still keep a lightning quick speed. but having a body hit 1 upgrade would be nice..but then again a bleed would be too...hmm anyone have any input on these two specials?

Well if you are using a curved right now the question is do you spam specials? If so you want bodyhit 2 first as it ends the fight much quicker which means less ham lost. If you dont ( which is probaly the smart thing to do with a curve unless you use muon gold or something similar) the healthhit1 would be most useful as it does the most damage per a special used except for health hit 2( of couse this over time so only truly effective in a long fight)

Personally if I would suggust atleast getting a good virbo blade and trying it out because it will allow you to spam specials as needed. The decision on which box to get really depens on what type of strategy you use. I hope this helps.
