Thread: Which is borked: Stun vulnerability or my stun baton?
I hunt primarily on Dantooine. Most mobs on dantooine are vulernable to stun (specifically lower level pickets and pretty much all varieties of huurtons). So I've been whipping up on them for a couple days now using a good dmg sliced Gaffi baton. A guildie finally was able to make me a slightly inferior stun baton that I got a great dmg slice on.
SO I'm thinking that I should be able to absolutely tear through huurtons now. So I get a couple missions from my city's terminals and head out.
I wack them all with blind and then switch to my spankin' new stun baton and start wackin. I see the nice 350+ dmg from normal hits spin up in my combat tab. Look above the mobs head, and much to my chagrin, see the exact same numbers!
Anyone else experience this? Is there no dmg modifier for being vulnerable to a certain damage type?
Thanks for the info!

Vulnerable just means the have 0 protection agenst it.
Huurtons have 15% kinetic resistance, so yourstick would be doing 15% less damage than it normaly would, while the stun baton does full damage.
Huurtons have very low resistances, it realy isnt worht it for them to change to the baton. Pickets on the other hand have light armor and some resistances. So the stick would have damage reduced by 50% for the light armor and then again for the value shown for kinetic resistance.
Now if you used the baton aganest the pickets than the baton woud do full damage.
I'm still trying to figure out all the little tricks with armor, but I thought that vulnerability simply meant that damage of that type ignores armor. So stun damage doesn't get the 50% reduction that normally occurs with a non-armor piercing weapon against armor. Doing the same damage with a curved sword would first be cut in half (since that weapon doesn't have AP), and then any kinetic resistence gets applied. Doing the same damage with a vibroblade would only be reduced by the kinetic resist (assuming it's only light armor).
Against medium armor, the curved sword's damage would be reduced by 75% (50% * 50%), and then kinetic resitence. Vibroblade would be reduced by 50%, and then kinetic resist. And I'm pretty sure the stun damage would go through even AP2 armor with no reduction.
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
Hi,
Yeah. It is very strange. Somehow I can still bleed with non-AP Gaffi from the Med Armor Lizard on Dantooine.
I am sooooo puzzled by this armor thing. (Not that it would kill me but it saves time killing Med Armor Mobs)

That is exactly how it works!
Vulnerability ignores armor and Resistances.
To stay with Dantooine:
Take a Slinking Voritor Hunter (medium armor, 35% kinetic).
Hitting it with a gaffi stick would result in 83.75% damage reduction
Hitting it with a stun baton, would result in 0% damage reduction.
Let's now assume the gaffi stick has 300 max damage and the Stun baton has 150 max damage and we are using UH3, we would have a "raw" damage of 2745 on the gaffi stick and 1372 on the Stun baton.
Factoring in the actual damage reduction, we would come out with an "actual" damage of 446 on the gaffi stick and 1.372 on the stun baton.
I hope this clears some questions.

Hi,
So even if a target has Heavy Armor, if it has vulnerability to Stun, 0% damage reduction. Is this correct?
Q
Correct.
