Thread: Regarding upcoming FAQ

I have finished with the root directory for our FAQ section, as well as much of the material for it.

Due to the way I'll be setting this up, you might notice some unusual posts over the next few days. It might even look a little bit like spamming. There will be several new posts withFAQ or PP (Popular Posts) in the title. These will be the posts that some of the FAQ/PP links are going to.

If you see these posts, I request that they please not be turned into some kind of a "I know what I'm talking about, but so-and-so doesn't!" flame fest. A good portion of FAQ and PP that deal with strategy are not cut in stone, and therefore many different opinions may all be valid at the same time. Please keep this in mind when posting in these threads. They are meant for people to browse through, look at the various possibilities, and make their own mind about what might work best when combined with their own playstyle. If one of these turns into a non-productive heated argument then it diminishes itshelpfulness to the reader, and de-edifies the entire project.

If you have a different opinion than a previous poster, then simply state your opinion as though you had not even read the one you disagree with. If the information in your write-up is different than a previous poster *obviously* you disagree with them. Quoting each line someone wrote and disecting it in an argumentative format isn't necessary. All legitimate information is welcome.

I also ask that these be kept as streamlined as possible, and on topic. One of the biggest reasons people have for postingquestions instead of reading the answers for themselves is the aspect of having to read througha bunch of unrelated material to find what they were looking for.

So I ask you"Please"... "Pretty Please"... keep these professional. Thank you!

Once enough of these have been posted, I will put up the root directory.

Raph, Can I request that when you make the FAQ, that you post a 'Should I become a fencer?' sticky aimed at non-fencers and newbies (two different types of players!) who are interested in fencing.

In it the following issues could be addressed, maybe... (things in parenthesis are my responses)

Is it fun? (if you like getting up close and personal)

What are the stats like? (we're fast and defensive)

How does it stack against other proffesions? (I think we're pretty darned good )

Melee in particular? (Power? Not a clue. Fun? We win, of course!)

What are some of the major concerns that a new fencer would/will be experiencing?

Any proffesions that particularly complement the class? (Medic, TKA, Master Brawler, Pistoleer (defense mods), CH, have all been reported as good combo classes)

Any proffessions that particularly *dont* work with the class? (Rifleman maybe?)

What to look for when purchasing beggining weapons? (Perhaps this should be a thread of its own? hehe)

Any quirks specific to fencing? (The best weapon for higher level fencers is, in fact, a stick. Oh, and our armor piercing weapon (only one, btw) is a butterknife.)

Again, this would be a thread, stickied at the top,for newbies and non fencers to look at when they want to see if they should become one. I was considering picking up a class I've never done before and when I went to their forum, they had no 'newbie thread'. I was surprised we didnt have one when I returned home to the fencing forum.

Thanks!
