Thread: Knowing your role

In group combat PvE or PvP everyone has a role, and fencers are not without thiers.

A long time ago in a forum not too far away Minerunner made a excelent post inspiring new fencers with, stradegies, roleplaying, and some nice pats on the back to the fencer proffesion and thos who decided to join thier ranks.

A knowledgeable fencer can be so many different things, a swashbuckling duelist, a warmongering savage, a crafty assasin and many more, but this post is going to focus on those three.

The Duelist:

A great way to play a game is by roleplaying, get yourself a nice sword and some loud flashy clothes, for they will be you essentials with this playstyle.

Get in character, and have fun. Taunt's are great to throw into your custom macro's with this playstyle and little messages here and there wont hurt or offend anyone. Remember you are the best out there and you need to let others know this, not only by your swordsmanship but by boasts, and wink's to the ladies watching.

PvE:

With this playstlye in PvE you pretty much want to get down to buisness, if its saving a twilek female, or rescuing a friend from a krayte dragon, you pretty much want to get the deed done, and save the chitchat for afterwards.

PvP:

This is where thestyle shines while rolplaying, trashtalking while performing your moves draws a croud alot. The dizzy+lunge combo can lay your opponent flat for a good five minutes, ( ample time to draw the crowd ) /peace and set your self up some actions with the " : " and bring some laughs as the crowd watches, Or blow a kiss to an attractive onlooker

Example : after you know you have them dizzy and knocked down, have a macro ready with this.

/peace;
No time for sleeping;
:smacks his opponent's rear;

To sumit up the duelist is a character to play when you want to have some fun, and trust me you do have fun, although most of the time its at other player's expense.

The Savage:

Rushing into battle with no fear will more than likely cause a early death, but you are a savage and have no time to think of death, so rush in there with a warcry that will catch the sturdiest warrior's attention.

PvE:

With area attacks all melee shine at this playstyle. Attracting attention to critters, keeps your friends alive and the medics busy. Grunts and growns are your favorite words in battle, other than letting your weapon speak for you, for your objective is to kill. Use center of balance and warcry to your advantage to last longer, and use your strongest attacks, to bring the critters down fast. Area attacks work best in a small group to keep the attention on you, and only you.

PvP:

Rushing into a crowd of enemies can be a short lifespan when it comes to PvP, however a distracted group from a savage appearing out of thin air, can sway a battle to victory in very short time. Area dizzy and lunge will be your best friend. You are not there to kill a single opponent, you are there to kill them all, dizzy lunge, maybe apply a bleed here and there, but you will die fast if you dont keep moving. Flanking opponents solo is very effective especially for a fencer, dont save your burst run to try to keep you alive. Use it first when you have them flanked and rush into the combat.

Tight formations are prime targets for you, in the confusion that you are most certain to cause land that area dizzy and knockdown as many as you can.

The Assasin:

A combination of a duelists skills, and a savage's ruthlessness will only strike fear to your opponents. The unseen killer is precise and quick to the kill, and only strikes at when the timeing is right.

PvE:

Make use of your support skills to keep your friends alive, while not attracting the critters attention. You purposely dont want to use area attacks or your most powerful swings. You want to apply low hitting status effects, warcry, intimidates and bleeds. You wont be getting the most xp, but your friends will know that they were able to accomplish this because of how you played.

PvP:

Single targets and stragglers are what you want to target to be most effective. Cruelty is your speciality and you show no mercy. Know when to kill, when to hide, and when to run will keep you alive throughout an entire battle. Strike lone enemies while hidden. In a city find a nice low-key house that you can enter and wait out your target. Never stay in one place, and keep your enemy flanked at all times. A lethal combination for this playstyle is working some Combat Medic skill into the mix, your opjective is to kill single opponents and keep them away from the main fray. While fun and exciting at times, you will get more tells of people calling you a cheat, so be warned the assasin is not for the weak of heart.

Sorry for the long drawn out post guys, this game is about haveing fun and I just wanted to share some ways I use my character to do exactly that. enjoy and hopefully see you in game

I'm an imperial fencer, a high ranking officer. I'm a cop. I know my role. The empire doesn't waste time with trials or due process. When I find somebody(Rebel) breaking the rules of the orderly Imperial civilizationI get out my nightstick, drop them to the ground, and deal out somejustice. I teach them to get with the program and make sure they know that the old republic, withit's corrupt politicial landscape,is long gone and won't be coming back.

Long live the Empire!

I think I am in the category of savage....mainly due to this event:

i found a small settlement of tuskens, with 1 tusken chief, 1 tusken captain, some snipers and around 20 tusken raiders. I was thinking, this could be a tough battle.....so I start using my powerboost skill in the meditate tree in TKA. after it is ready, i just turned on my CoB and rushed in. The best way i figure out is to doubel bleed all of them...so there I go...I got incapped after bleed all of them and kill several. i got back up, they are all down to 1HP, so i killed them all....i looked at all the dead tuskens there.......wow, did I do that?

Fury,

Would you object if some or all of this were placed in the Fencer FAQ? I figure it's not plagiarism if you ask first.

Hi,

I always end up being a conan the barbarin type. I hate it though. The cowardice is my charm. The problem is that if I don't survive, everyone dies. So my strong sense of survival is keeping people alive. ...

Oh crap the post got screwed up.

So anyways, I suppose I play extremely different depending on whether I am in a group or not.

You should see me solo. I run a lot! But teaming forces me to be brave or so it seems. But I really hate tanking ... oh so difficult.

I am not THAY it's a typo.
