Thread: About the speed cap. Clarification plz.

Hi guys!


I've been reading about the speed cap for a long time now, from what I gather the speed cap is 1 or 1.1. I'm not a number cruncher like our great correspondent, as blessing and good things to him including Krayt Donuts. But me and a friend had started playing and we wanted to know what the speed modifier does. We equiped our weapons and just attack away with normal attacks to a banner, timing groups of 10 attacks. Witha 3.5 weapon I was attacking 10 times in 8.?? seconds, for sure less than 10 seconds. We weren't usiing very good methods, we chose an attack and counted 10 after that and the time that passed. We did like 5 batches with a gaffi and 5 more with a pistol.


After this, what is the speed cap?

The speed formula (on the current system) is



Actual speed = ((100-speed_mod)/100)*speed of weapon*attack delay(this is the delay caused by using specials)



So as your speed mods get closer to 100 the first part gets closer to 0, at a speed mod of 100 this is 0 and if you multiply anything by 0 you get 0. This means you can use any weapon with any special at a delay of 0 (1 sec with the speed cap).



So a Master Fencer with a speed mod of 90 can use a 3.5 sec Gaffi at 0.35, so you could use any special with up a about a 3 sec delay at the speed cap.


A Master Fencer with Master Brawler (speed mod of 95) could use the same weapon and hit the speed cap using specials with a delay of 6 seconds.



However the devs have said that this entire system will be changed during the revamp(atm a Master Rifleman can fire faster than a Master Pistoleer).
