Thread: Melee Madness: A success and a new hope for Fencers everywhere
For those of you that missed an earlier post, I hosted Melee Madness, a tournament for all the best Melee fighters on intrepid (16 entrants in all). It went extremely well, very exciting and I had at least 40 people turn up to buy tickets (at 2k a pop i covered my expenses) anyway, what was really interesting was how well the fencers and 2h guys did, amazingly enough in the first round of the master bracket 4 TKM's all went down Fencers or 2h masters... Sadly our fencers couldnt maintain the momentum and a TKM eventually came back to win, but the other 3 were quickly eliminated...
anyway Raphyal if you arent on intrepid, I hope you will make a character for a couple days late October and be my personal VIP guest at Melee Olympics... the ultimate test of power,grace and teamwork... more details to follow
GuysI have one suggestion to any of you disgruntled underpowered crying people (That was me a week ago heh)...
GET LUNGE2... its awesome... its officially a KD as it knocks them flat on their bums and with Dizzy it can be our most powerful attack... not too mention the Intimidate2 you get from master brawler as well its completely worth the extra skill points
and yes folks the Gaffi stick is still where its at against anything less then Medium armor Im loving it

mastering brawler is quite a blow to my skill points. I've planned out going Master Fencer/Master CH/ and medic 4/3/2/0.
I got around to thinking though that after I master fencer, I can drop CH and go ahead and master Brawler, and then medic as well, for my endgame PvP. Don't know if its worth it though. All I know is that I definately need a pet until soloing is made easier again (as devs had said they would with the recent poll responses)
I only wish my fencer was my first character and had mastered the class when KD worked like it was supposed to. Instead I did Smuggler/Pistoleer...doh...some good that class turned out to be...
One thing I noticed though, with KD and intimidate nerfed, Fencers don't stand a chance against opponents who have stims. We just can't output enough damage in real PvP to be as succesful as we should be.
My Posture downs are resisted way too much, Dizzy rarely sticks. Now, again, I know I'm pretty novice, but I think there are definately imbalances right now with the 75% damage nerf to fencers. I bet its a different story higher up in the tree though.

umm slightly in correct, I commonly mke stim b' in the 30-35 per tack range aand all at 350+ on base heals o anyone with First Aid and maybe some Diag for speed on tims will do very nicly with them. the combo of org chem and pharm is a nice one in theory but you will be maaking stims that wont compare to b's with FA4
Of coure youll need to find yourself a supplier for those and on Sunrunner i make them kinda cheap, 300-400 per stack depending on my supplies atm.
As for that Tournament I wish omeone would do that on Sunrunner as i generally do that kinda aanyhow. any day i will duel any Melee because I want to see where I stand at all times. i dont buff and they dont stim or I dont stim, no DB aand after the first fight its a rematch with a nokd either. If anyone is interested in setting one up... imm usually too broke to try to do this caause of grinding my doctor atm. Feel free.
Also TKM are nasty but not, i repeat not unbeatable.
Fred... CH is good i guess, but I always thought it was pointless mastering a profession where i can get a Rock beetle thats awesome... I can pretty much solo anything non-Krayt in the game (boy was it ugly when i tried) and yeah Lunge1 is useless, tried many times to get the lunge1+dizzy combo to work to no avail... and who uses pets in the PVP anymore? if you want to be the best, you have to get Master Brawler its as simple as that, the defense mods you get +5melee+5ranged +5toughness are too much to pass up to go along with Intimidate 2 which is a godsend... btw why do you think intimidate1 doesnt work? I always use it, and it cuts my opponents damage in half and once they get Warcry and Beserk more functional... sure it takes a try or two to get it going but keep at her... it doesnt cut into your attack time so giv'er...
OK fencers, heres a little secret for soloing nearly 5k exp mobs, ON YOUR OWN!!! First off, get pharm 4, for stim D's, i have a supplier that sells them to me that come 52 to a stack and 850 heal. Next pop some MUON GOLD! a great spice, that doesnt have horrible after effects that last for a very short duration, boosts your mind and secondary minds. Not only can i style like crazy, i can healmyself too.The spice lasts 10 minutes, and i find myself soloing 10k mobs, without any armor, any pets, any droids, only my own heals and muon gold.
Yeah i agree, its tough, but i dont wanna be one of those professions that everyone does because its easy. Heck, im gonna work my a$$ off to become master fencer, currently 1-2-3-2 fencer on Corbantis, where i havent met many other fencers. Not only can i kick a$$ in a group melee, i can heal and support. Throw in a few scout skills, work up tka combat exp, and the two lines in pikeman and swordsman that give melee/ranged defense and defense vs postures/effects, and you are unstoppable.
Of course all of this takes skill, practice, and timing, but then again, thats part of the finesse, quickness, and grace that fencers acquire.

I stay away from drugs now to be honest, the downtime is just plain killer and i cant deal with it, too frustrating, just jack up your mind with stat migration enough so you get good regens without the drugs...
JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS... heh
