Thread: Fencer guide for beginners?
I'm new to the Fencer community having created one the other night, and was wondering if there was a useful guide around. I searched the forums, and have picked up tidbits of info here & there, but haven't found a guide. I'm currently trekking towards One-Handed 3, so I'm very early into the process. I'm not new to SWG, just to this profession.
Things I'm looking for info on include:
1) Ideal weaponry w/stats (so I know if its worth buying or someone's junk).
2) Armor (yes/no, if yes, what works best).
3) Special attacks -- what works best.
4) Supporting professions (I was thinking of a combo of Master Fencer, CH, Doctor).
5) Any other miscellaneous tips/hints you wish you knew when you were starting out.

Well...from "my personal experience" i use 3 weapon, vibroblade for special attack such Health hit (bleed) blind2, dizzy2 and lunge, then depending of the kinitic resistance of my enemy i swith to either my curved sword or to my stun baton for high resistance to kinitic damage. I dont wear any armor because with our special attack you would do more damage to yourself than the enemy will. I also start with Fencer/medic/Ch combo but i got bored of having a pet tank for me and take all the damage... but i must admit without a pet i would probably not be master fencer at the moment. But it is definatly a good combo. I hope my expereince will help you.

well my tips 2 u wud be get ur mind as high as u can without leaving health and action vunrable i use a gaffi stick 132-222 speed 2.4(lol 2nd time i got a **edit** speed slice 3rd time lucky i hope) and a vibro blade 45-164 speed 2.5 and on the odd occasion i meet a nice medium armour 50% resists and stun vunrab i wip out me stun baton
so there the 3 weaps id recommend wen u can afford oviously
its a grind 2 novice no real usful special moves body hit 1 and 1handhit1 are ok berserk is usful 2 hunt wat u can take i lvled 2 novice on tatoonie on stormies hehe(that cant be done now cause of kd nerf) id recommend stuff like scyks womp rats.
an idea might be 2 get a pet rock beetle no ch shud charge alot for them if its over a few k its a rip off cause these things arnt hard 2 find a pet will hlp u tkae harder things and tank for u rock beetle wud be my choice because of ar1 and kinetic 25%.
When u get novice things get easier a little u cud either do grps 2 places like fort tusken or start doing harder missions
in fencer tree id recommend getting bleed first then body hit 2 body hit 2 is nice but at this stage onehandhit 2 which u get at novice fencer was still my choice doing 1200 dmg on average with it working up the footwork tree first hlps alot with the speed bonuses
hehe and thast about as far as iv got
gl being a fencer!!
When I was just starting out, I made sure what I knew I was certified to use, and what I'd be certified to use soon, and then kept an eye out on the bazaars for weapons.
Fencers are rare, so the weapons are hard (ish) for a newbie level character to find, because you only really want the weapons your able to use, not the leet higher level ones you cant use yet. Also, because fencers are rare, fencing weapons dont get sold as fast, and their prices seem to be lower.
For first level, get a nice hand crafted knife. I managed to find one on the bazaar labeled 'XP Dagger' (the name attracted me, hehe) that maxed out at around 50 or so damage and used that to level up. Again, know what your certified to wield (what you can use), and shop around on the bazaar as you level up and can use more powerful weapons.
As for damages, curved swords seem to offer the best kinetic damage with speed, I've seen em at around 200 max damage, sliced and probably 2.3 speed. Rykk blades (I think) have significantly less ham costs, but I havent seen any higher than 169 max damage, they are also kinetic damage. Stun Batons use stun damage, but offer less max damage than most of the other one handed melee weapons. This is because most creatures/npcs at higher levels are heavily protected against kinetic, and lightly (if at all) protected against stun damage. So in those cases the stun baton is a lot more effective than the normal weapons. I have no experience with ganderiffi batons, vibroblades, or any other one-handedweapons I did not discuss ![]()
Explore different planets while grinding the exp to get Novice Fencer, and then from there, you will probably have been to lots of different weaponsmiths so you no who to go to for the special eleet weapons that everyone cherishes most.
Oh, and the intimidate command is the number one most effective command you've got ![]()
All I can think of off the top of my head.
when he mentions the Ryyk blade, i think he meant vibroblade.
and to further his post about Gaffi's: they really do work well once you get a couple boxes in footwork. hands down, i do the most damage with this weapon. i also wear armor, and use specials very frequently. i don't usually kill myself unless the opponent gets head shots in there. what i've done is played with secondary stats that keep my gaffi from draining me (i'm zabrak, so my mind stats are insanely high). i have to heal myself more often than other people, but i can solo anything within reason. and i'm always tweaking, trying new set ups, different attack patterns, etc. no two fencers should fight the same way. we're not commandos. our weapons don't do the fighting for us. we simply *must* use strategy and a little luck. which is why few get to master level and then untrain it. how many ex-bounty hunters and ex-commandos have you seen?
just some thoughts
