Thread: what is the profession fencer coming to?

Hi folks, I am2443 fencer at infinity server, and i was grouped with a2443tera kassi player and we raided the squill cave at tatooine. And I must say that tera kasi are REALLY the best brawlers ever. I couldnt possible do as much damage as she could and their knock down? One word only, WOOOOOW!
Anyways, my point is: where does fencers come into the picture. I can see the tera kasi as the UBER tanker, but what about the fencer? Yeah, sure we got great dodge bonus and with CoB we are untouchables, but at what cost?
We need Imensly great mind pool to hold the CoB up constantly, and we need the ,mind to do our special moves.
Us fencers have no good weapon that has armor piercing and therefor we suck at damage. We have to spam our specials in order to do good damage and that drains our ham IMENSLY.
But i found out that if i wore full set of composite armor, and use no special attacks, i can take out red creatures. But then the whole idea of a fencer is dead.
I mean, come on!!!! give us a good one handed weapon that has light armor piercing. I know we have the stun baton but it has TOOOOOOOooooooooooooo much ham cost since we have to use CoB to survive.
And for the love of all fencing, give us a sword instead of a gadaffi stick. Im a fencer not a clubber!!!!
Either sony has tolower the tera kasi, or they best be doing some serious changes in the other brawler professions.
Maybe i have misunderstodd the whole concept of fencer in starwars, so please if you see it otherwise, let me know.

I think they are balanced from a grouping perspective in PvE. TKM and Fencer are the few combat classes that are working. Fencers are tankers in the respect that we keep the target occupied, tack on adding blind and intimidate, the creature won't hit us. Sure others get the glory in the kill, but we were valuable in letting them do the dmg. With the Warcry change, TKM's will need us more than ever, and if I am not mistaking, there mind suffers even worse than ours. I found with moun, brandy and a canape my mind will not drop at all while I am spamming specials. Fencers just are not the heavy hitting class. Although in PvP we are the lasting class. We should be able to do minimal dmg, but the attacker should kill them self with specials. That is what I do anyway, dodge away, and then do a 1 or 2 scatter hit 2 to end the duel after they spam everything they have in there arsenal to try to hit you.

Try and remember that tera kasi's only get one type of damage as well. Yes, I know, stun isn't the greatest alternative out there for pve, but it's a big help in pvp.

Like most people you will overate the TK profession to start with. As a single class it is better than the others but the gap isn't that great.
Fencers make better tanks than TK, you will get hit far less than a TK. The TK can only ever do Kinetic damage, all other Melee's get a choice. Fencers is Stun. Fencer gets a Vibro Blade which has light AP.
Sword
Curved Sword
Rykk Blade
Rantok Sword

The Fencer title is for a one handed weapon specialist, wasn't that well chosen a name but I guess they didn't have many options and besides the Swordsman profession get to use a Hammer.
The other melee classes stacked better than TK as well. They all shared a secondary defence with a Marksman profession, the new Def Stacking fix/nerf has put a stop to that, shame but rightly so.
Fencers have the all round defenses in the game. They get no KD (neither do Swordsman) but their Dizzy and Lunge1 will do the job in PvP.
The ability to be able to heal wounds and cure poison/disease is such a powerful one (can't be used in a fight mind you)that meditate gives you is really the big overbalancing factor that puts TK at the top of the pile. As for KD/Dizzy I expect that little Melee combo to be firmly lined up in the cross hairs for a nerf come Pub.8

I'm master fencer/tkm/master brawler...that is one option that gives both worlds capabilites. I think fencer is actually pretty powerful if built with the proper template. Spend some more time playing with it and you will see it has some uses also. When pvping I tend to use the fencer capabilities more often when people have armor on. It does a lot more damage than tkm when dealing with armor. I know several people who have combined it with pistoleer and are just gruesome on the pvp. No need to mention combining it with rifleman...hehe, anything with rifleman is potent.
