I'm a fencer ranger and I have to say if your looking for an uber template this isn't it. Ranger, well, doesn't do much for the skillpoints cost. Your better going master scout and picking up another combat class instead.

The other problem is fencer isn't the greatest PvE class and especially isn't brilliant against creatures. Better to go heavy swordsmans or even rifleman if you want to be a good hunter.

All that said for some strange reason I like the combo. Maybe I just like pain or summat

Swordsman better pve if your looking to gather resources. Also may want to check over the trees but the only useful ranger tree is tracking pvp. But its very useful. when you are base defense rangers can be the diffrence between life and death because of the amount of forewarning they give you. Swordsman /ranger would give you use good pve hunting ablities but other than tracking your arent going to do much in pvp as swordsman you cant do spit to armor. If you dont mind using guns then rifleman is probably your best choice for overall. Also keep in mind that you will be playing at a disadvantage to all the otherwho fully decked out for pvp.

The only really good thing about the fencer ranger template is the +to melee and ranged defense you get at master. Its not that much, but it helps a little

in the trackng line is a +to hit creatures that only applies to ranged weaps.

Im currently trying out fencer to complement ranger, however, my hunting partner is a master rifleman, and when i was a master swordsman, he and I could solo almost anything we wanted.

the tracking line is bugged and inefficient when tracking players on speeders, the other lines in ranger are almost as equally useless.

its too bad i love being a ranger though

It has been a while since I was a ranger (and I was a Heavy swordsman at the time) but with a new character I am a novice fencer working on getting novice ranger. Sure, I don't take on high end creatures, but although there are many complaints about the ranger profession I like the traps so far. They are better, for the most part, for melee fighters. The ranger traps that can stun or dizzy and the scout traps that can blind and slow movement are nice.

I use the scout trap that slows movement first (some dart trap that starts with a P) and then throw traps to stun and blind. by then they may start to charge you, but then i just use my lunge attack and knock them to kneeling and can do some nice damage before they get close enough to attack me. Or I just kill them before they get up. Again, this isn't high end content, but some of the skills come in handy. Just hope they fix Rangers, they really need some work.

many creatures are vulnerable to stun dmg so i thought fencer with his stun bartoon can make good dmg.

if i take only the tracking tree i can get some good devense from tka and can to also pvp with the fencer.

swordsman is not good in pvp i heard.

Swordsman IS good in PvP. But, like with any prof you have to balance it with another....

Try this..

Master Brawler, Master Heavy Swordsman, TKA 4000, Blademaster.

Ownage.

If you MUST be a ranger, then go with fencer if you're PvP'ing. If you're PvE'ing Go with MHS.

Really though, to be effective at PvP you have to take something other than master ranger. Or any ranger for that matter.

I suggest that if you wanna do both, Master Rifleman, Master Ranger, and some Squad Leader might be more to your liking.
