Thread: Kinetic resistence? What am I missing?

Greets,
Right now I'm 1,4,3,2 in fencer. Cruising along, doing a lot of those Dantooine missions to get xp.
As all you know, there's this thing called 'kinetic' resistence a 'vulnerability rating', but I don't understand it.
In theory, I know that when I examine a creature and see 65% Kinetic resistence, but a vulnerbility to stun, then my stun baton should be the magic bullet right? Not really.
For hours and hours, I have been experimenting. I thought it was a fluke or bug or whatever, but the damage reduced on my 230 damage Gaderiffi is minimal! I have tried swapping between my curved sword, gaderiffi, and my stun baton. There is no doubt, the stun baton doesn't work right.
Am I missing something? I look at my combat screen using a stun baton (on the above mentioned foe) and I'm hitting for 1000-1200 damage with meleehit2. I change the *vulnerable* weapon (Stun Baton) and do the same attack and I'm hitting for 600-ish damage.
I have tried this with different weapons, different enemies (with similar resistence/vulnerbility) and different attack types, and it's consistent.
In PvE I have not seen one instance where the AP of a vibroblade and the 'stun' damage of a stun baton have worked. Not once. And I have been experimenting for hours on end, convinced something -else- might be wrong? I dunno...
I'm only posting this because I can't seem to get my head around the sort of numbers I'm seeing. I'd really appreciate some of you guys, who post often on such matters, educating me.
I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Don't look at the combat spam window, it shows damage before armor reduction. Look at the numbers floating above the mob's head, that is the real damage you are dealing.

Okay sorry about that. I was always monitoring the combat window as numbers floating off my opponent's head are somewhat hard to decipher.
My stun baton is very basic. It's a around 150ish for max damage with 4x the mind HAM costs of my Stun Baton (mind=11). My stun baton nearly kills me more than my opponents. I've had a few sliced, but I hate their mind costs
And if there is an edit key, I can't find it. (I still don't think I can edit my posts, some people talk of it like it's a 'feature' they earn on the boards).
Anyway back to the point. I 'll have a look again tonight, but the stun vulnerability IMO should be much more effective than it is. I appreciate your letting me know that the combat window is giving me a false sense of what's going on.

Gees I did it again... in a rush at work. The stun baton has a mind requirement somewhere around 40, and my Gaderiffi which deals nearly twice the damage has a requirement of 11 mind on specials. Thus, I hardly ever use the baton since I don't find it any more effective damage-wise than my Gad stick, and the baton nearly kills me.

Find the edit button, see above your post where it says 'Options' click that and you will find the button. And yeah combat log shows before defences, though I wish this were changed because whenever I battle anything, I hit so fast that all the numbers pile on top of eachother over the head of the dude, I can never tell what I'm hitting at!

My understanding about Vulnerability...
If the target has Armor rating and is Stun Vulnerable, then your Stun Baton will bypass the Armor and hit directly.
Note that most mobs do not have armor.
Tuskan Wacking Stick (Gaffi) is your best bet for PVE. IMHO.

With everything lower that about 60% kinetic the gaffi shloud be better cause the max damage is higher. But try somethin with Armorrating light against kinetic and vul to stun. There you see the difference
