Thread: Thinking of going Master Fencer...is this template viable?
eh mfencer has a lot of broken stuff, its not bad
i say just master the prof you have the best weapon of
Thinking Melee CM will the the next FOTM. CM does so much damage to Melee it's not funny
But that is good as that is what the CURB and balance is all about.
If I was going CM though I'd probably take up TKM, the reason being CoB is great and the Knucklers of Katarn bring dps way up. However Swordsman would be good as well, your damage as well as Ticks could probably destory alot of people quickly ![]()
I'm thinking of switching ot CM myself but might do it on my range toon and keep camulos how he is ![]()
EnderUK IGN: Camulos
Check out the template threads, you might have better luck there.

Well I'm currently Master Rifles/MCM but its just so boring...I think a little melee may spice up my gaming experience...Is Master Fencer/MCM/Medic 344x a viable combo? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...this is primarily for PvE, though I may throw in a little PvP once in a while...
I had MFencer/MCM on TC for a couple weeks before the CU went live. I played around with it a lot, mostly in PvP and a little in PvE. MCM is real nice, but it's really meant to be paired with a ranged profession.Like the other people in this thread mentioned, it's best to pair Fencer with some other melee skills. It really doesn't do too well in the damage department on its own. You won't have a lot of speed or accuracy compared to an all out melee template with some doc thrown in. However, you've got DoTs to help you out with that...
As a MCM, you can expect your fires and poisons to get up over 300 ticks. You've also got a bleed from Fencer that should get up over 200 at least(depending on your weapon). That means after you've got them all applied(sorry but that takes way too long to do), you'll have around 800 points of damage ticking off every 10 secs. The advantage to DoTs is you can stick them on multiple targets and have them all work at once. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. There was a ton of whining about DoTs Pre CU. Sure a lot of it was justified, but SOE overcorrected and made them nowhere near as viable as they should be.
To answer your question, you should do just fine in PvE. However, you'll be killing things much slower than you do with your current rifle/CM build. MCM is pretty nice in real PvP, but paired with a melee profession, don't expect to be one of the best duelists. Fencers really should pick up some other melee skills. The most popular ones are Improved CoB, Improved Armor Break, and Improved Critical Strike. To make room for these, most of us choose to do Doc instead of CM. If you really want to be a good Fencer, I'd suggest doing the same...
