I've been trying to understand this whole defence issue. There are so many different aspects and variables, can someone clear the questions below for me?
I've heard that ranged and melee defenses cap at 125 - How is this defence different from Dodge, Block and Counterattack? Which is better to have Melee/Ranged defense or Dodge/Block/Counter-attack?Would a char with 125 rnged and melee defense fare better than a char with 125 Dodge?
What is the calculation of making/taking damage against an attack with these defenses?
Thanks in advance;

I really dont know the answer to your question but I do know for a fact that dodge can be delt with by intimidating someone.

Ok, from my understanding teh defenses work like this:
Melee/Range Defense is the initial defense which caps at 125. I think there is a roll between the attackers accuracy and the defenders melee/range defense.
Dodge/Block/Counter Attack/Defense Acuity are the secondary defenses. If an attack get throw the Melee/Range defense, then a roll is made to see if your secondary defense protects you.
Melee/Range Mitigation decreases the Maximum range of damage that can be taken.
1-h Melee Toughness is basically a damage resist that lowers the amount of damage taken.
Center of Being increases (doubles?) your secondary defenses.
Intimidation reduces yoru defenses and yoru damage output.
Stun slightly reduces your defenses, slows you a bit, and reduces your damage.
Blind decreases your accuracy
Dizzy decreases your defenses slightly and increases the chances you will flop when trying to change your posture.
Combat Equilibrium protects you from falling while dizzy during a posture change.
Hope this helps, if I am incorrect in anything, please post it.

Yeah but Tlk did a good job on a break down of basic defenses and what they do. After all of those modifiers get accounted for then armor is taken into acount and the little numbers float above your head =]

Cool, because I justchecked that particular thread in the FAQ, and it didn't work, so im glad T1K's breakdown helped.
