Thread: Advisement: Does ranged defense help if melee user?

I've heard conflicting info on this and I can't remember or tell which is correct.
I'm completely melee these days and wondering if ranged defense comes into effect to protect me against lasers if I'm using my melee..or does only melee defense work and ranged if i'm using ranged vs ranged?
If that's not too confusing. I haven't seen this discussed recently, but I'm sure I'm being one of those annoying repeat posters.
Just to make sure, i've also been told that defense vs stun/blind etc stacks between professions, but only if the other profession you're using has those same defense types.
aaand I've also heard that the Force Sensitive augments stack outside the cap for melee/ranged defense, as well as the accuracy and speed small bonuses. Any truth to this? since we fencers, and probably TK which i am also enjoying, are fast.
Any clearity on all this statistical mumbo jumbo would be appreciated.

Ranged Defense modifies the likelihood of being hit by a ranged attack.
As far as FS skills allowing one to exceed the 125 cap, I don't know.
As far as I know there is no cap on accuracy, and the fastest you'll ever attack is once per second.

Alrigh, thanks for what insight you have.
I guess i should just learn to only worry about damage since speed is so easy to come by.
Well, there's required trees so I might as well drop it on the defense, speed, and accuracy just in case.
I hear persuasion is useless, and luck miiight help you with looting..but I wonder if it's completely pointless to select these.
