Thread: Frustrated X-Fencer, Need some tips so I can stick with the class this time! :P
I was a fencer a long time ago, then i dropped it because XP was so hard to get, then I picked it up again because I missed smacking things with a pointy stick, and then I dropped it again...Now I've picked it up again with the intention of mastery (I've tried having average skill in numerous things, but it hasn't worked too well)...Bottom line, anyone have any tips on things to kill without getting killed to get some fairly decent XP?
Thanks.

I have been doing well, better then I ever did as a master carbineer. I would get smacked by paralopes and squalls until I made carbine spec, which isnt cheap either in XP. I beat the crap out of those beast now. I take whites down with a single blow as a brawler, as a carbineer, It took 4 - 6 shots average with a sliced laser carbine, and sliced dxr6.
I like the brawler class, I do more damage as a brawler.
I HAVE AN IDEA! We need to have a disarm move, or a parry move that unequip their weapon for a few seconds. That could be a nice high fencer move!
Most pets with good armor and high HAM also have high attack damage ![]()

I have done the follow and have no need for CH. I started off trying to go the CH route, but found it was not my style, and it dug far too much into where my character wanted to go. So I ended up dropping the skills.
1. I am working the doctor tree hard. being able to use Stim-Ds refills my entire health bar in one shot. and soon I will be dropping massive buffs on.
2. I use heavy armor on tough cons, and the correct weapon. That would either be a stun baton, curved or vibro depending on the targets armor and resists. This is very key.
3. I use food and spice on the tough stuff. Tat Sunburns and Moun Gold.. The sunburns boost strength and staminato over 3.5k, thats 2 eats. and The moun gould buffs1.2k mind and 1kto my sub mind attributes so they regen fast.
4. Sometimes I do use a probot with level 6 armor to aggro my targets and take the initial heat off. They really help when the target has a range attack. It gives me time to get in without taking dmg.
With this setup I can take on red cons, sometimes 2 at a time, depending on what they are. Granted I have my stats jacked up and am wearing armor, but I am doing it. I timed myself once and made almost 12k xp in 10 minutes with this setup.
Another great target that gives good XP are the tortur's. My good pal qadara should these to me and they are the ones that tipped me over another block in stances and grips. These I did with no armor and no buffs. Talus so far seems to be the best place for XP.
I found mountain dewback to be great xp on tat, about 1.6k a piece and I can drop them fast. I took on a mob of 4 the other day. Just blead each one and work them down one at a time. My dominate specials are bleed then blind and then bodyhit2 as often as required. Somtimes I throw in a beserk when my mind stat is getting low.
I think the point is that no matter what your playstyle is, there are ways to make fencer work. You just need to be a little more inventive that a CH or Comando needs to be.
I had a remark from a CH the other day, told me he could stand toe to toe with anything in game.. For one thing, I don't believe him. My comment back was, "that must be pretty boring". The other point I made was HE could not stand toe to toe with anything, his pet could. I on the other hand have the nads to do this without a pet.
Fencer is a great choice no matter what seconday class you choose. I think so far the main factor to me being fencer is my cloths.. You need to be dashing and have a super personality as all fencer should. I play the Zoro type, with no mask of course. Remeber the 3 musketeers, ahh yes that is what fencer is all about.
My number one and two experience spots have been Baz groups on Dathomir and pick-up groups at Fort Tuskan. With a good group, Bazare best in my opinion. Each lair has loads of them, the missions have a 10,000 credit value, they yield leathery hide or animal bone so that scouts get a saleable item. The big negative is that you need a largish group and pets because sometimes you will get 4-5 at a time.
Fort Tuskan is fun but you will die a lot more and it is a long run (3400 meters or so) from the nearest cloning center (Mos Espa). There are all sorts of bugged targeting issues at Tuskan as well.
OK, first off...I'm master CH and don't have anywhere near enough skill points to become a doctor. Second, I don't have ANY skill in the fencer tree at present, so I'm extremely weak. Third, Fort Tusken is terrible for melee XP, in my experience, since your average group is filled with CH's, Commandos, and Bounty hunters who all bring the targets down before you can even run up to them so you can poke them to death. Fourth, I've tried bazzies, and they "auto-DB", if you will, as soon as they incap you, and the amount of people it'd take to bring down a horde of them would be large, thus making it useless to even make the trip there since everyone will be doing so much damage at once the XP you get will be about as much as you'd get for slapping a diseased bocatt around...Can anyone help me NOW? hehe.

A couple of BDQ's vs Pubams on Endor worked for me, **edit** Maulersrun off chasing rabbits in combat too much for my liking. Much cash from missions, they're 25K max, and much exp using a stun baton.
Don't hurry to Master though, after a few days of having 0 skill points left the game gets boring real fast. Instead of playing all eveningI just log in and do a fewnightsisters on Dath, chat to my friends, then log off and read up on the other MMOGs coming out soon. ![]()
For some non-CH advise:
Wear armor and do regular attacks. Maybe throw a special here and there.
Also, pick up Medic. -it's pretty much a requirement for all combat class if they want to solo effectively,
I find that its normally enough to sustain life..that and im 1 block from Master Medic. Also when fighting in a group maximize you attack distance to avoid 1 shot Incap's by tougher NPC.
A warlord will almost always 1 hit incapp me if I am in 0-1 meters away from him..but at 4m, i can retreat and come back.
If you are a master CH, get a graul mauler and head to a planet with armored mobs. I like the klikniks on Yavin personally. The graul won't give or take much damage, leaving you free to attack at max range with a stun baton or vibroblade and rake in the exp. I'm sure it isn't as noble as getting drugged up and taking the beating yourself, but I think the ends justifies the means on this one. It took me a long but reasonable amount of time to get master this way. I can't begin to imagine how long it would take otherwise.
