Thread: Defense and Speed Question
Hi, I'm currently a Master Fencer on Bria, and i had a couple questions that I havent been able to figure out yet by playing. (Disclaimer: I apologize if my question has a simple answer)
1) How exactly does defense work? Do the bonuses we recieve from our skills configure into some equation of the damage we absorb?
2) How often do you see yourself dodge another melee attack? and does dodge work against ranged?
3) Is the +15 bonus to speed we have over 2handed swordsman a huge difference? Is there a calculation that determines how fast we hit? I was thinking of socketing clothing with +Speed but it seems that i hit fast enough as it is...so would i be better off adding defense enhancements (which im not sure how effective they would be) or simply +dmg mods?
Thats all i can think of right now, all responses are appreciated.
I will answer #3.
Each point of speed skill reduces your weapon speed by 0.01 seconds. So 100 speed skill is one second. However, the lowest possilbe delay you can get is 1.0 seconds. So any speed bonus past that is not needed. Only brawlers and pistol users seem to "have too much speed." Fencers most likely wont have more then about 100 to 130 speed bonus, (with sockets) and our weapons are usualy above 2.3 seconds delay.
If by some means you do "become too fast" then congrats ! ![]()

On the awnser to number 3. I have been looking for solid numbers and yours look accurate. I also hear that if you have a speed bonus below 1 second it might be an advantage because it would still speed up special moves, that take longer than a regular round of attack.
Wether or not the speed is worth it for only specials, I don't know.
But does that seem accurate to you guys?
