Thread: My experiences as a Rifleman and Fencer...
That's a bit misleading, I'm only currently Novice Rifleman and not even Master One-Handed yet, but anyways. I haven't read a lot of posts on this forum because I just recently took up 1H swords a few days ago when I got bored with my grind to Master Weaponsmith. In any case, I play on Eclipse and spend about half my time as an Overt Rebel, so needless to say I get in fights ALOT.
For those of you who have complained about getting two-shot by rifleman, I just wish you could experience what I experienced last night. I was fighting an Imperial BH in Anchorhead, and he kept owning me when I tried to fight him in ranged combat. That frustrated me because I've got a few boxes in rifleman and I would've liked to think I could at least hurt him a bit, no such luck.
So, I thought, let's try this handy vibroblade.
Two one-hand lunges and a dizzy attack later he was fubar. Never hit me.
The moral of the story is this. Being able to fight from a distance AND up close is going to be king. Heck, it already is king. Sure I can one-shot most people with my rifleman headshot, but that isn't nearly as fun as watching them lay on their backs spitting out profanity like it's going out of style while I hit them for 300+ ever 2 seconds!
Same holds true for PVM. With my rifleman I can one shot whites all day long, but yellows and reds hand me my butt on a plate. EVEN AS ONE HANDED SPECIALIST I CAN SOLO THINGS THAT DESTROY ME WHEN I USE MY RIFLE. Combat goes like this:
One Hand Lunge
One Hand Lunge
Dizzy
Normal Attack a few times
Dizzy
Rinse and repeat, throw in a few more lunges if dizzy breaks and you've just owned a yellow.
Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that coming from a Weaponsmith/Rifleman, Fencing is one of the funnest experiences I've had yet! I can't wait to get some more boxes!

I completly agree!
I am a IH Rifle person and have found this to be true.

Just hit completed Novice Fencer last night, working on completing Novice Rifleman now. I completely agree.
If my mask scent/threaten shot/glow juice combo doesnt let me kill the mob before it even gets close to me, then I whip out my Ryyk blade and beat it down real fast. Nothing like having 4+ mobs on you and one spin attack you are staring at dead things walking.
I am working on building Carbiner too since I am not sure if I want to go Bounty Hunter route, but only going to use the one hand melee weapons.
"If my mask scent/threaten shot/glow juice combo doesnt let me kill the mob "
You actually xp this way? I thought the threaten shot spam was nerfed? Curious...
Well I am not sure what you mean by fixing it? The skill is supposed to intimidate your target, it has a chance of working, sometimes it doesnt. Maybe before it was not possible to fail or something with it, but that is not the way it is now.
It is not danger free, if the mob has friends, they come. If the threaten shot misses or doesnt work for long, the target still comes.
It is a way to either kill the mob fgrom a range or at least beaty him down some before he notices you. Why nerf it if that what is was supposed to do?
