Thread: I'm lost and unsure what I need to do. Fencer or Droid Engineer
I originally started a Human DE got him up to 2,0,0,2 on the skill tree, I've made a fair amount of money but he is boring to play and weak as a pup. I originally thought it would be nice to make great droids and such but now it appears that my droid options are a bit well erm not good and from what I've read won't be getting better. So after reading about the other professions the fencer stands out to me more than the others. I tried to create a new char on the server but I guess they only allow 1 per server and I don't want to lose my credits.
Now I understand that I can give up my other skill trees and become a fencer but I don't think the human is a good choice nor my current stats up to snuff.
What should I do ?
Become a Fencer/DE.
First just do some stat migration, and pick up novice brawler and your set to go.
You got 250 skill points, so use them up.
I could've sworn I read somewhere that the developers were mulling over the idea of adding more effective combat droids to the DE schematics, but putting a certification system on them to limit them strictly to DEs themselves. I wish I could find that. I do think it was about a month ago, so heaven only knows what they decided to do. I haven't checked the DE boards at all, so they probably know more than I do.
In any case, I'm startinga new character just for fencing. It seems like the ideal combat profession for me. It wins the style points,it's comparatively unique, and it also seems to be an "under the radar" profession, which means it's much less likely to get driven into the dirt by balance revisions. I've read pages and pages of posts on the fencing skillset, and it seems like it's very underrated by other professions. Also, I have images of plumed hats and poofy leggings ala the three musketeers, perhaps combined with a dancing profession. The grace! The fashion! The sheer style of it all! What more could a girl ask for?
As far as your question about humans and combat roles, the hallmark of humanity is adaptation; in every game I've played, they're the one race that could do equally well in every single profession. You might not get the Zabrak defenses or the Trando regeneration, but you will get highattribute bonuses that are evenly spread. Of course you could also do what I'm doing and start from scratch on a different server; it's sort of a thrill to get the newbie feeling back, even if it's short-lived. ![]()
