Thread: So slow, too slow
A friend of mine is a novice fencer. I am his teacher of sorts as he comes to me when he needs an advance, but he is not progressing well. He says he has played 1h swordsalmost since the release of the game, but is only a 1000 Novice Fencer. He has a good weapon (A curved sword, unsliced, not sure on the exact stats but they are quite decent), but I don't follow him around, so I'm not sure what he hunts. I used Tusken Raiders, but he seems to have trouble with them. What do you suggest I tell him?
S
but that's just how i do it. at novice? scyks. banthas. use stims.
He may be doing something (or not doing something) that may seem really obvious to most fencers. He may be spamming specials to the point that his ham bar is so far gone that he dies easily. Or he may be not spamming them enough so that he doesnt really do enough damage at all. He may even be a genuine newbie or just not used to combat... a lot of things come with experience. If he's been playing that long but is that low a level, he's most likely been playing very casually and/or been spending lots of time doing other things.
Oh and keep in mind that tuskens are quite deadly. Especially if you are of lower level and get targeted by them frequently. Most of the people on this board think of them as easy exp. But remember that most of these people have mastered the speed branch, if not the entire fencer class. As well as probably the +dodge line(s). Tuskens have a nasty tendency to gang up... and at his level, I'd say the max tusken level he could take in a group are commoners. Which rarely stand alone.
So... observe him for a while. Watch the damage he does. Does it spike, showing evidence of specials? or lack of use of them? is that curved sword *actually* a decent weapon or not? Ask yourself these things. ![]()
easiest way will be like this
1.bring him totat
2. find some rontos or dewbacks lair
3. turn on CoB
4. stacks your two bleeds to a creature
5. peace
6. repeat step 4 and 5 until all creatures are bleeding
7. keep CoB going
8. have your friend attack he 1 health creature
9. BAM!! full xp to him
hopefully that covers most of it.
First of make sure that 'decent' curved sword is indeed that...
This is a decent curved sword spd: 2.3, dmg 73/166, attk range mods 12/12/12
I currently have these baking on Tarquinas and sell for 5k
Second.. GET IT SLICED... Currently the sword I am using has a 27% dmg slice on it and is now 94/215
Cost of Slice... 100c/% = 2700 credits
Thirdly.. get some powerups... with one of my own powerups that I like to use: Max dmg +15.51%, Mind +31.49% = -10 Mind, +33 dmg
Now I don't know w t h he's been fighting to only be novice still if he has indeed been playing as long as you say since I only made novice about a week ago and am now only 75k from my first box and I am not powering myself up the tree, this is mostly casual fencer playing.
Things to fight I find... I just came across these today... Ferral Banthas... 1300 HAM and go down pretty fast even with 20% kinetic resist and give 1300xp... just don't let them gang up on you *grin*
Forth.. ARMOR... armor = good... sliced armor for encumbrance = better
The reason I stated anything after #1 was because if he hasn't yet learned to get his weapon sliced for dmg... then the rest of 2-4 might also not be so obvious to him.
- Lo'tek Deviant, Tarquinas, City of ShadowRealm, Naboo
- Once upon a time was a Master CH, a Master Weaponsmith, a Master Artisan, and a Master Marksman
- Am now working my way to Master DE, Master Pistoleer, and Master Fencer and in the near future Master SL... WHY ? Because I have come to love the sword and only draw my pistol when the buggers decide to run... Master SL only because my path to be one with the force has lead me that way.
Oh, and once you do figure out what he's doing wrong, please tell. My curiousity *must* be satisfied. It has a mind of its own. ![]()
Just to let you know, his curved sword is sliced with 91-201damage, with 2.3 speed
