Fencer Archive
Thread: Cold water on my head.
We still suck heavily against a ranged char. I was feeling so good taking on 6 nightsister huntresses without a pet or 12 rebel NPCs. Then trying to get revenge on a ganking group of bounty hunters/commandos made me realize we still need a lot of loving.

A standard fencer just doesnt have the arsenal to take on range person 1v1.lunge one / dizzy is unreliable and hard to get it to stick on the higher level enemies. The rests of our stat effects are blinds which dont help at all trying to catch a kiter. While we may dodge most of their blows its only a matter of time till we get hit and go down. If you plan on going pvp or fighting humanoids your best bet is master brawler. lunge 2 +warcry 2 are priceless as they increase your potential tenfold. warcry 2 will stop the barrage of lasers while lunge 2 will set tehm up nicely for dizzy hit so they stay down.
Jesus christ man, burst run spam dizzy. When it finally does stick spam lunge. Then rinse and repeat.
I never have problems with ranged, my dizzy always sticks andlunge almost always works besidesthis is why I have pets. Staying as a "Standard Fencer" isn't very smart. This is why we are allowed to dabble, or I think we are. No ones really sure on that one.
What does Warcry/Warcry 2 do?
And how does lunge 2 have a 16m range?!?!
lunge1 and lunge2 both have extended ranged, one function (whether intentional or not) being that you can stop a kiting ranged fighter allowing you to catch up with them.
Thanks for the support guys. My pvp macro starts with /follow;/CoB;/warcry;/dizzy1;/lunge1. when I got ganked I went overt and ran to the direction they killed me. There werefive of them, buffed, one commando three bounty hunter and some kind of marksman.
I had my pet out and a trooper and stayed between building watching the red triangles kill other imps. One got separated from the other two. I ran for him a bountyhunter. Pets were set to guard. I didn't burst run that is one thing I should have done. The strange thing is a commando was very far away but I was starting to burn. pets went for commando and I kept at primary target.
warcry worked on thebounty hunterbut I could not lunge him or dizzy him. My CoB was on but the commando behind mekept hitting me. Tried a couple more times always waiting for one to get semi separated. CoB was useless when three or more of them were hitting me. This is totaly wierd cause I put the bleed on 6 nightsister huntresses using CoB I could stay alive long enough to one-hit kill them. After the fourth death I just stayed covert and heal my wounds. Lost my trooper pet and 8 vitality on my rocksmasher.
I dont mind dieing but to see that I was useless even fully buffed with neutron pixie, tatoine sunburn, muon gold and two pets it was really discouragin. I'm a blademaster btw.
Bounty hunters have a watered down Flame DOT.
Also, be careful with macros in pvp. You are vulnerable by going into a timed sequence that has moves that require previous moves to stick. Each opponent is different but the only thing constant in pvp is to incapacitate your opponenent as fast as possible. Not much point in Warcrying a Ranged user (except for pistoleer as they have +50 KD resists). Lunge2/dizzy/lunge1 (to make certain they fall)/ extra dizzy for good measure is a great way to open a fight with a BH.
The solutions are to 1) use composite and be extremely well buffed (not an option for everyone) or 2) group with some stock "BH/Commando in composite armor" characters in your own faction and have the "tank" the other marksmen. At least as far as I can see it.

Killing one ranged character is easy, the problem comes in group combat. You can only debuff one person at a time unless the enemy are morons who stand in clumps or in a straight line. So while you wipe the floor with one guy, the other one is hammering you for full damage with no fear of getting hurt. I have 120 ranged defense and 110 counterattack, it still does not reliably stop eyeshot or flame attacks in PvP. You need to use the debuffs.

I always make sure to be buffed in PVP and I try to make sure that not many people are hammering me with ranged weapons at the same time. Ranged char's don't have great defenses against dizzy I think so the best thing to do is Dizzy/Lunge as many as possible and when youve got most of them down bleed/bodyhit them to death as quickly as possible. Pets really help when killing downed players.
Let me get this straight - you are complaining because you COULDN'T kill 5 characters?
I think you need to wake up and smell the percolated bevarage.
