Why is the profession called fencer when the elite weapon is a baton?

Why is the elite weapon a baton when the animation supports a sword?

Beacuse Fencer is merely a title... a label. The line is One handed... that encompases every weapon weilded by a single hand... knives, batons, and some swords.
