Thread: Tip for getting Melee XP (Fencer XP)
Just a quick tip that's probably been mentioned inside of other threads, but may be helpful to hear again anyway. This really only applies to a ranged professional who's grinding a melee class.
I'm a master rifleman currently working on Master Fencer (and TKA - not for a holo, for pvp template, massive defenses) -
my new strategy that i stole from my pistoleer buddy is to go prone and do the single pull tactic on whatever group of mobs i'm hunting. so far it's worked against pickets and thunes,and i'm going to my favorite stomping grounds on dath to try it out on greater baznitches tonight -.
i use rifle bleeds, but you could just as easily use pistoleer or whatever you got (a ranged bleed that doesn't count towards your XP gains).
/prone; /bleed2; /bleed1; /Peace - do this on every single mob around a lair (2-5 pickets, whatever). as soon as the bleed ticks they'll charge you, turn on your CoB, arm your 80% ubese, and use an AE (area of effect) attack if you have one (i've been using Blind2 - it's the only fencer AE i have atm, but whatever works). if you don't have an AE attack then just use any hit you got - doesn't matter much. they'll be dead in no time anyways. also , remember that unless you hit them at least once with a non-bleed hit, you'll get no xp. so keep your pets off these bleeding mobs as they may steal your xp if you can't hit each one before they die.
as a rifleman, i can stack a 2k mind bleed on every mob - if you're a pistoleer you can put on the health bleeds and do just as well (nice that they stack with the fencer bleeds). just make sure you stay about 45m away when you're prone (at least).

It's a great tactic if you have a ranged attack, it works a treat with mask scent too.
Although there can be drawbacks, I was killing Vicous Huf Duns on Talus with tihs tactic, and had drifted closer and closer to my parked Speederbike (my lovely shiny new speederbike). A Huf Dun Bull was bled and attacked on the tick. Charging toward me. Hit CoB, and it went stright past me and starting putting big dents in my new bike 
Quickly closing the distance i started hitting the bull as hard as I could spamming body hits with my Gaffi, the dam ned thing was obsessed with my bike and didnt turn on meuntil it had mashed the bike to pieces, I swear I heard it gruning "Hate Shiny Hate Shiny"over and over again as it repeatadly tore into the innocent bike.
Kinda ironic that when they attacked my pets (May Tlan rest in peace)the moment I so much as glanced at them they would leave the pet alone. 
Anyhow I am now battling huf duns to extinction because of this, albeit more slowly since I have to run everywhere now
