Thread: Best Armor for a Fencer

You do not need to use all the components of armor since only some parts of body get hit very often. You can record the degradation of components to see which components hardly get damaged. Then you probably don't need those components.

I did exactly what you said and found that this outfit works great for PvE and PvP - Composite 80% chest plate, 70% left bracer, 65% boots. Obviously i'd like all 80% or higher, but this is my current outfit and I plan to stick with it from now on. Pieces I removed were 70% gloves which never got hit, a helmet that did nothing but kill my mind and a left bicep that did get hit, but after taking it away, found it did more damage than it prevented.
I'm not suggesting that my armor equip is the end all or the best, but after messing with ubese, chitlin, padded and composite armor for the last 3 months, I found that this was the best combo for me, I mostly PvE in the form of creatures...

Very interesting. I have a full set of 65% composite. Actually, the helmet is a little higher. I am able to withstand 5 or 6 fambaas beating on me at onceand eventually kill all of them. The trick is not to use specials as they are too expensive, except for the bleeds. It takes a long time, and occassionally I have to pop some food or drink, but I simply use defense and outlast them. I've switched from focusing on specials to using base offense and defense and it pays off when solo. This is getting me prepared for the next patch when special damage won't be healable.
The thing I've noticed is that the holes in the armor are still there. I sometimes take up to several hits in a row that are not defended by the armor, come straight through and land full damage. So, even with a full set, you are partially vulnerable. When the MOB finds that spot, they sometimes hit it a few times in a row.
These armor holes are getting on my nerves, as is the very long delays on heals during combat sometimes.
My point is that the armor helps you tank a lot, but even a full set isn't really a full set because there are still holes. That needs to be fixed. Until then, it might not be much worse to pull a few pieces off to save stat points.
just want to point out about the holes, try just a few pieces of armor, you may find that the same number of holes happen. I am also a bleed and regular attack player. Only special I use is body2 if I need to finish of a member in the mob that's close to dying, or a dizzy2 or blind 2 to finish off several. I'm not suggesting 1 piece is better than 8 pieces, but I am suggesting that by removing some, you may find a better balance.
