Thread: Where does Fencer stand in the scheme of things?

Hey all. Just picked up the Fencer profession after grinding out Rifleman. What a run but its nice to say I have done it. Not a hologrinder btw.

I was just wondering where Fencer stands in the scheme of fighting classes. I know TKM is a all around useful profession but I was wondering about how Fencer lines up for PvE. I find myself really enjoying Fencer despite only being 0-1-0-1 and I cant honestly see the need for two Master combat professions. I was trying to find myself a good additional profession to benefit myself and my guild. Tho, we have one guy with an alt who has armor/weaponsmith. At least one Master Doctor so I am trying to figure out what I could do to be useful besides thumping stuff with my stun baton.

So, basically should I keep Rifleman or drop it in lieu of some dabbling or perhaps Master CH and some Medic skills. Or would having the Unarmed line of Brawler be useful?

All the professions that you listed are very beneficial...it just depends on your play style...i.e.. solo or grouped

Wango Tango ~Bria~
Tagich ~Bria~

Imho, rifleman/fencer

Gives you the best of both ends, youcan do good damage to highly armor'd, and tear up unarmor'd, plus you have the best ends in pvp.

Thanks for the reply. I was sad to see no replies and at the least not even a 1 star.

I am pretty undecided as to what I want to do as I play. I was Ranger for a while but realized the wasted skill points and dropped it and half of scout to dabble.I almost went Master Doc but realized that it would be way boring and not to mention costly/time consuming hunting down the resources I needed. I picked up brawler and novice fencer cause frankly it seems like a fun way to play. I was always envious of my Pikeman and TKM guildies who spanked creatures that my novice rifleman couldnt takre care of.

Now, that I am nearly finished with Rifleman I can see the power it has but grinding the last million xp has burnt me out. I am mainly doing it now just to say I have done it. I just cant see the need for having two combat professions since I believe I will enjoy Fencer more since as a Rifleman I get no loot. Always pot shotting from the back.

After I finish Rifleman I may go visit the Geno caves for some payback that my noobness has experienced in thepast. When I run low on skill points I may drop it but I will see. I'm not gonna grind fencer like that. I dont want to hate it too.

The thing is today I did go grind some combat xp to help finish up Rifleman. And in doing so I also got box two of Footwork. Now, maybe I am just used to shooting from a distance but I took a ton of wounds from those dang savage quenkers. I can appreciate that I was only at 0-1-0-2 as I fought so my defenses are crap but I picked up 180 battle fatigue and a total of 120 wounds across all stats in like an hour. About 12 quenker missions and the odd run in with a huurton or voritor.

I was wearing a near full set of Ubese(no helmet) with 70%kinetic. Granted my health never wavered much after being buffed but the wounds amazed me. Will these become less frequent as I progress thru Fencer? I did have CoB looping for the 20 seconds I am up to but still. Makes me want to pick up Master Medic to heal my wounds myself and just get as much CH as I can for some decent tanking help.

Still trying to figure out my template for fun and not pvp or ownage.

Hehe, im not sure if you have points to take up Meditation in Tkm, but if you do, or if you want to drop rifle and go more melee, I would suggest it without a doubt.

Tkm is without a doubt a weaker skill in PvP, in PvE i would say they are the "middle" with Swordsman as the 'highend' and fencer at the low-end.

Pikemen currently is nerfed, their most powerful attack is (i belive) a 3x, so their damage is nothing really

Tkm is great for slaughtering, but it gets boring, Meditation though, (4-0-0-0 tk) is worth every point if you dont like wounds.
