I would like to make a public apology to Zion. Forgive that I called you the Trash of the Fencer community. Really didn't mean that. I was ticked off at the fact that you were trying to pull off a Jedi-Mind trick implying the there were no logical minds in the fencer community if they disagreed with your proposal. I should not have called you that. I don't even know who you are so I can't make such a judgement call. I still do disagree with some of your proposal but I do so respectfully. Sorry.

Respectfully

well, unexpected.

But apology accepted.

Just understand that I love this profession, and am doing what I can to help make this profession better. I sat by and watched the growing complains about useful sword weapons, and how everyone wanted new sword weapons for fencer (or at least, a LOT of fencers did, because the complaints were quite often and by a lot of different people.)

So, I came up with an idea to fix that situation quicker, by moving Rantok and Ryyk up to AP1, and by moving them up in the certification box - thus meaning we get more useful weapons faster. (just need to change the data line from AP 0 to AP 1).

Granted, sometimes I get an idea that sounds good to me, but in the reality of the game would be overpowering, and when that happens, a lot of the more regular lovers of the fencer profession here have kindly given me constructive criticism on why that won't work, which I am more than willing to listen to.

What gets me fed up are the people who either dismiss it and insult me out of hand with NO constructive criticism (Vince has been Public Enemy #1 with this), or those who like the idea, but resist it because they are afriad of the nerf bat.

I am not opposed to people bringing up concerns about my ideas, so long as they do it in a constructive and intelligent manner. People ranting like idiots does not help out in what looks to be by most at the very least a promising concept.

Finally, that is all it is - a concept. I brought it to the fencing community so they could shoot holes in it. I want this to be something the fencing community hashes out, tinkers with, and then when the majority feels good about it (majority since you can never make everyone happy, see vince), we bring it before our corrospondant, and then have it brought before the devs.

This is a process I have seen on other forums, such as Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, etc. And it has worked well for the most part. Granted, changes didn't happen overnight for these professions, but they did eventually happen. I think enough people are on board with some of the concepts I put forth that we can move on to refining them, which I have.

In essence, I want to do most of the legwork the devs would normally do internally, within the fencer community. The more bulletproof we can make it here, the likelier we are to have it implemented by the devs.

Whew - that was a tangent! Just wanted to explain my position.

Apology accepted, and I am fine with you respectfully disagreeing with me.

Excellent!

I have been a fencer since day 1 (for me) back in August and we have been through some crazy lack of attention and finally got heard. I agree with your proposal of re-certification and an AP2 would be nice but not really necessary. Maybe I think this way because I have done extremely well in PVE and PVP, knocking off some Master TKA's on the way, but this may be due to well played strategy and/or being a Master Medic also.I love this profession also and we still need some minor improvement. If I had suggestion to make, it would be giving us a sword as our ultimate weapon instead of a night stick or a nasty looking lead pipe. I don't mind the damage output of our weapons. We have speed, toughness, and good accuracy, in my opinion. I hunt without armor (I'm buffed nevertheless) on Endor, and Yavin 4, and consistantly on Dantooine and I don't remember the last time I visited a cloning center. When I see other professions fully armored and yet dying, all I can think of is how great my profession is. We are Tanks, and those of us who are good strategist are juggernauts (IMHO).

Just wanted to give you an idea of why I disapprove withSOME of your proposals. Keep up to the good and long live the fencer community.

Well, even though you disapprove of some of my proposals, do you like the concept?

If we can agree on a concept, then its just up to us as a community to hash out the details.

Oh, and give my latest revision (2.0) a read again: you will find I phased out the AP 2 suggestion, and brought damages back down to fencer-like levels.

That, and in my most recent post there, I suggested we push for recertifying our weapons and making the Ryyk and Rantok AP1 (with the rest of the stats as is), and not focus on new weapons until the combat balance comes out, since we have no idea what the combat balance will do for our weapons (or to them).
