Thread: Fencer+tka or fencer+swordsman?

Currently I am going for master fencer and soon to start a new combat profession. I know that fencer is really good for pvp but to have some pve skills i have to choose between tka and swordsman. i heard swordsman is the best for pve but i've seen tka do really good on danttoine. what do you guys think?

Yes, you've seen TKA do really good on dantooine. But Dantooine is hardly a very tough planet. (no offense) Take that TKA to Dathomir against nightsisters or against a krayt or kimo and you'll see how much a TKA lacks compared to a swordsman. I'm not saying that a fencer/TKM is a bad template. On the contrary, it is very good! But if you want a great PvE class to go with fencer, then swordsman is it. TKA just doesn't have enough AP to compete with swordsman in high end PvE. A fencer/swordsman doesn't have quite the defenses that you would have with a fencer/TKA, but I think it is more than enough.

Ive been a master TKA since September. I recently picked up Novice Swordsman. Let me say this. Already at Novice Swordsman Im doing a LOT more damage than I did as a TKA. Go with Swordsman.

Swordsman is awesome and i mastered swordsman in 1day .... 2 buff sessions it was awesome lol i loved it

Personally, I'm a Master Swordswoman/Master TKA. I'm re-working up Fencing again, and will be dropping TKA down to 4004...
I prefer the variety that I have with swords (both 1h and 2h) compared to just the VK/Kinetic of the TKA.
/shrugs
Then again, hard to be a Swordmaiden, if I don't have Fencing skills to go with my swordsmanship.

It all really comes down to what you want to do with your character.
I am a Master Pikeman (high block, variety of weapons and damage types, lots of DoT weapons) area knockdown, area dizzy, area startle/stun. really good for crowd control and pve damage
I am a Master TKA (nice defenses vs state changes and fast attacks for single target combat)
I amMaster Fencer. Good compliment to defenses and combat abilities from the other two. stun baton.
I have never tried swordsman though so i cannot compare but I can do the Jedi Crystal Hunter caves alone quite nicely with brandy and canape though the 80% resist all critters in there tear down my weapons. especially when you got 4 of them on you at once. it takes awhile.

i'm master brawler, master fencer, master swordsman, tka 4 0 0 3, and novice medic, so i still have most of tka defenses, got the pve, and then master fencer for pvp, plus the brawler for the lunge 2 and stun
