Thought I would throw out this little guide as in what I do, maybe geta sticky.

Preperation

Ok as of right now you should obviouslly try to make sure you have 37% stun helmet, Chest, and boots. Do not wear pants, as you'll notice the boots take the pants' damage *wink*. Wear some BE pants in place of comp pants. Always equip and test your psg. Have an extra psg, Synthsteak, brandy, muon gold,a COB macro, and 50%+ pikatta pie in your hotkeys. Just before the fight pop 2 brandys, a pikatta, and synthsteak. This leaves just enough room in your stomach for an extra synthsteak if u end up taking alot of damage after the first synthsteak wears off.

Ok

Introduction

In todays pvp scene, I always recommend 3/0/0/0 doc at least. You can have the best defenses in the world, but you will have one downfall intimidate1/2 and poison if you don't have doc 3/0/0/0. This guide is also directed to my fellow master fencers.

Situation 1 general

I can't stress this enough, use scatter vs your opponent to check the power of their armor and to wrip through their synthsteak. Because of the scatter effect, this one attacks hits you 4-5 times per attacks meaning you wrip through those uses on the synthsteak in a matter of 10-20 secs on normal.

Going against another melee proffession

The main thing if you are running up to another melee proffession try to start off with a warcry. Within this 10 seconds try to land an intimidate and once it lands try and blind them asap. The dizzy can usually come second for these guys(unless they are Combat medics who you want to dizzy lunge as soon as possible). When dizzy of course try to land the lunge. If they stay on one knee and don't fall spam dizzy2 as they might be a doc try to heal it, but they will be SOL. Once they fall depending on their ham try a few scatter 2's to see how effective it is on their mind pool, if still uneffective nail them with 1h3 and you will eventually break that psg, or you'll probablly kill them with that attack. If they get up rinse and repeat.

Going against a ranged proffession

Ok so even if they don't, expect ranged proffessions to have amazing accuracy as if they are on +40 accuracy food at all times and have accuracy tapes. Between the 30-10m range try to land an intimidate incase they are defense stackers and they try suppression shot or are a carbineer. Once in range of these guys it really depends on the person. I would reccomend go right for the dizzy/lunge. If you are having trouble or are surrounded by people I always reccomend the blind2 attack since it is AOE. Blind and your dodge are priceless. Same thing goes here, once they are down using an acklay baton go to town with scatter2 and 1h3, depending on their ham. And in closing use burstrun wisely. If you don't have burstrun food watch yourself and make sure you have an escape route if your burst run wears off.

Specific Situations (Proffesion strategies)

TKM

Can not stress this enough. Make sure to stick intimidate and keep that blind on them or they can and will mess you up if given the chance. Though be advised you can usually have limited damage since they only have kinetic defense and they have a delay if they switch their weapons. Stick to the general strategy if you can knock them down. If they stack, then like all proffessions nail them with a janta or any 1h dot weapon. Blind is a definite priority.

Fencer

No matter what intimidate every 25 secs or whenever it is healed. If a fencer is not intimidated it is a very big annoyance trying to hit them. Go right for the dizzy kd on these guys.

Swordsman(edited)

Actually, I am going to have to update it for swordsman, as I saw a very good swordsman in pvp last night. The main strategy that you must have as a swordsman is you need to use your scythe. They need to go for the intimidate and will try to hit you with 2h3 tomake you dizzy and then go for the lunge and will try to headhit you. The main weakness I see is that they have some of the worst defenses in the game.*If they are a pure swordsman* Like most proffessions though they can become a defense stacker if needed. Many people don't do that and I advise you go right for the int, dizzy, lunge. If nothing seems to land(states), poison, then switch to stun baton and go to town with 1h3, til that psg is broken. And make sure like stated earlier that you are wearing the best comp helmet possible, either 80-90% kinetic.

Pikeman/Pikewoman

This proffession can be hard to drop or very easy. Smart pikemen take accuracy food so you'll want them to be int/blinded asap. If it is a pikeman with a dot like fire, you'll want to keep it off of you so blind is very necessary and can destroy a group. Either be a doctor, or have a doc with you because if you are intimidated, they can usually hit you.....eventually if unprepared.

Doctor/?????

Spam states on these guys as they are usually very defensive and want no states on them. I usually spam states with a janta knife and then warcry to switch to my acklay stun baton and go for the lunge. When they are on a knee spam dizzy. If they fall then try to scatter and throw in a dizzy now and then. When they get up you can repeat the process with janta or try to scatter2 with a stun baton to slowly drain mind.

CM/????

They might have doctor so listen to some of the Doctor/???? section. Because they are cm they won't have the best defenses so go right for the dizzy/lunge.

Pistols

As with any ranged proffesion use terrain to your advantage either go into buildings for them to come closer or come inside. Pistols usually don't have incredible accuracy, or if they do, they will not have any doc so have fun with your Janta or any dot weapon. Make sure to go for the blind first as it's like cutting the power any pistol/bh could possibley have.

Carbineers

Make sure these boys are intimidated because they are state and posture change whores. Then blind for the same reason you want to blind pistols, as (unless they go through bh they won't have the best accuracy). Then go through you dizzy lunge and have fun.

Riflemen

A fencer's biggest enemy. These boys/girls can hit us with their crazy accuracy while they kite us from 64m out. If you are intimidated, run inside or heal it if you can, because you are shouting shoot me in the face!!!! As always it never hurts to intimidate on your way to killing the rifleman. Blind these guys as if they are prepared can nail your mind pool at all ranges. Then go right for the dizzy kd. Usually they run w/o melee mitigation so have fun.

CH

Truthfully no threat, just go right after the owner and spam area states so you kill the pets at the same time.

In closing for this section of my guide I would like to say, usually no one is just one combat class, but pay attention to what weapon they have equipped at that time. Come prepared and you will rarely die 1 v 1 or 1 v 2. Depending on the situation I can win 3 v 1 on a normal basis. Just learn how your opponent plays and you can usually win.

So I hope this is useful for some people and just thanks, get out there a fight!!

Well thought out, I don't want to sticky this till I actually get some of the gunk clearedwhenI get the new FAQ link up, but I'll keep it stickied personally till then, and I suggest anyone interested in PVP look at this for at least one valid oppinion on PVP Fencer Tactics.

Besides alot is going to change with the combat ballance and I gaurentee 90% of this will be outdated in a couple months. But for now it's a nice and concise view of one set of general tactics.

Great guide. Lots of good advice.

Another bonus is to know the terrain where you're fighting. If you're in a city, a Rifleman will own you in the open air, but if you can get into the cantina, med center, or bank, they have to close to shoot you and you can get them. It's no disgrace to run inside a building when you're fighting a Rifleman, put the fight on your own terms or you'll watch your mind draining away as you run after them and they run away shooting you in the head.

Guild halls and med centers with those elevators are also useful, as you can literally cut off their access to you. If they take the elevator to get you, they're right in range for your attacks.

For Swordsman, you have to be careful if they are Speed capped with a nice Acklay Power Hammer. Non-Speed capped Swordsman are very slow, and will probably be using a Scythe, which isn't quite as damaging as an Acklay Power Hammer. The advantage of fighting Swordsman is they don't have too many direct state attacks (more attacks with chance to state), but you have to watch your mind.

To answer the question I use boots, chest plate, hemet, gloves, and bracers. I never really notice a difference. Ever since they fixed the armor hole this has worked. I am certain you don't need pants but Id say test it for the biceps.

Just slap on some 50% stun armor and watch him flail.

Nice guide, one problem though, you have more time in set-up and food then in actual fighting. All that crap isnt nesecarry to work in PvP, and the information about scatterhit is COMPLETLY inaccurate.

Scatterhit (Now that it is FIXED) hits ONE time, on 1-3 pools. My testing and experience shows that it is working fine, not a 4-5 hit per time thing.

Ps that would knock out most synthsteak in 7 seconds.

For fighting someone like khensu, it comes down to if your a CM, or if you have spent the money for mind poison weapons. Again, part of the problem with PvP.
