Thread: Fencer/Pistol Fencer/Carb?

So it's taken me a long time.. (1 year), but after being on top of my game as a pure gunfighter, I've finally made the switch to adding some Melee.

I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what is better. At the moment, my plan is to triple threat my professions...

Master Fencer/Master Brawler/Master Pistol

or,

Master Fencer/Master Brawler/Master Carb

Together with my group, we're one of the top Imperial PvP squads on our server, but switching to Melee is a huge change for me, so I figured I'd ask some of the experts.

What's better, and what strategies would be more effective?

In addition to that, I've already acquired Master Pistoleer, but am only considering Carbine if it has something about it to be really worth the grind.

well the only thing pistoleer would be god for, alone that is, is the defense you get from it. Carbines is good for placing states so you can either go for defense or offence

Carbineer's good for state placement and has some nasty hidden cones and knockdowns in it, but Fencer's already good at state placement. Pistoleer gives you better defenses and more dodge, which is always nice, but doesn't bring a hell of a lot to the table in terms of usuable skills. What do you want your role to be, the defense stacking "tank" (well, as much as you can def stack Dodge with allthe Intimidate flying around)or the utility state whore?

Go with pistols. I was Master Fencer/Master Carby, and it was all good and fun until they nerfed equip speed. Stopped kiters with ease using Full auto single 2 to stun/blind/dizzy, then charge shot. Now it isn't really worth the 426528746578426528465642542528 years it takes to switch weapons, so I'd just go with the extra defense.

I say go with pistoleer. One day they will be good...one day... lol. But seriously, the added dodge is great and the defenses are even better. Also, you don't need to master brawler to get a kd.

do not do carbineer, it's defenses are broken, i counter attack once every like 20 hits, thank god i gave it up

I've had nothing but positive things with fencer/carbineer. Pistols are nice if you want to play the super defensive game, but carbines area attacks will make you the best support person for team PVP. But like the above poster pointed out, carbines don't have many defenses and really require you to think and use tactics to be successful at.

i would go with pistols to cap your dodge and have more defenses... in pvp defenses are king and carb is pretty broken as is
