Thread: The new role of Fencer after CU

Before I start quoting I better link the document I want to discuss about:
Profession Roles Overview

It seems our new role does not have much to do with what our role still is. Right now you cannot be Fencer on TC5 so a lot of guessing is included in whatever we assume.

I have difficulties to image what we're gonna do in a group though. Assume you got a group of a TK, Rifleman, CM, Pistolier and a fencer... what would the fencer be doing then? Run between the targets and put a health-hit at everyone to make them bleed? And what is meant with "moderate" crowd controll? Our ability to taunt from brawler? Spin attacks? Well, a spin attack doesn't stop an enemy from attacking my rifleman or even worse, my combat medic and the ability to taunt is common to all brawlers.
The document says, the fencers offensive abilities will only be second to rifleman and swordsman. So if we do DoT, what is the difference in that to what CMs do?

ya i can see your point
they REALLY need to make fencer a better profession all they need to do is make a fencer DoT better than a CM DoT
CMs have other ablities so that evens it out
and everyone is happy and CM still have good DoTs also but a fencers is better (acid sword.....acid......not bug spray)


and another thing ppl have gotten fencer on TC5 i have seen like 5 novice fencers so far......they forgot to take one of the fencer trainers out and word got out about it.........wish i would have got a screenie of the fencer

Our job is to hand out some dmg fast, and b4 the other person can hit us hard from our new lack of defence. And Im pretty sure it said position control in (parenthesis) next to it, which leads me to bnelive we can dizzy/kd areas in the CU. I dont play test center so I dont know for sure but thats what it sounds like to me. Right now I'm not a fencer but in the skill respec I think I may become one.

As long as we speculating....maybe it'll be an area bleed then area slowto keep them from following as we run away. So it will be a bit of a hit-n-run type profession. Maybe the slow will be enough for us to wait on the special timers to only be in the crowd when we have specials and out of harms way during the cool down.


Another thought I just had was we might want to be stacking with TKM due to aggro. So unless a tank has a way of pulling group aggro, our AOE and DOT stuff is gonna grab everything except for what the tank is hitting, just like how DOTs in EQ2 tend to pull aggro. So a good way of keeping aggro from a mob while a doc is healing might be a fencer/TKM combo. I'll probably stick with fencer,CH though just cause it's what I wanted regardless of game mechanics.
