Thread: New Weapon Wish List

In Q-3PO's resent post it says;

Lack of melee weapons:

I think that we’re lacking melee weapons across the board. We added weapon certifications late in the beta cycle and didn’t add any extra weapons to our classes. The end result is that there’s limited choice, and not a whole lot of visually interesting choices for higher level weapons.

Of course, this doesn’t just affect melee. I think we could use more ranged weapons as well, and even more vibroknucklers with varying effects for Teras Kasi. I’ll see what I can get added for these classes.

So I feel this is a good time to give the devs a wish list of weapons we would like.

  • First I'll state that daggers and knives need armor piercing to make them a viable option to fencers.

  • Second I like to see Kinetic divided into pierce, blunt and slash damage

My New Weapon Wish List

Sonic Dagger - high Armor piercing weapon

Short Ryyk or Ryyk Knife - faster but lower damage,

Foils and Rapiers

Elemental damage power-ups - Just like the current melee power-ups but also changes kinetic damage to Heat, Cold, Electrical,or Acid.

My two cents

For a Master Fencer swords in both hands.... if their is going to be double pistols (which I heard of but not sure if its fact)

besides you dont use 2 hands for a fencer sword or atleast shouldnt

1. Duel-weild knives

2. Combat Medic makes poison kit for blade. Maybe kit has 10 charges. Applying it makes it work for 1 attack, then must be reapplied. Or something.

Well...you do really use two hands...one for holding the sword of course, and the other for balance. Balance is always a major issue. And I would really HATE to see duel-wield...although it would be EXTREMELY cooool, I would hate the fact that everyone would want to be a fencer/pistoleer. And of course the over-powering issue would come up.

Okay, I've had a few ideas in my mind for it, some already stated. For starters:

- Bladed weapons need a weak, short-term minor bleeding effect. I think I said 10% of a normal hit before, for maybe one round of bleeding.

- It'd be nice to weild two swords. But, let's keep it more realistic. Most often, the 2nd weapon is a small dagger for defense or quick strikes in close. Let's make it for that purpose, not just mad damage.

- Make personal sheilds auto-repair over time. In the movies, sheild gens just stop working. So long as they weren't destroyed, they regenerated the sheilds around the craft they were protecting. Also, they were directional. Give us the option on the generator for 'double front,' 'double rear,' and 'full.' It'd allow you greater protection to the side you chose, or none to the opposite. (ie, if on double front, you'd have the equivilent of medium armor. However, anyone behind you would hit you like you had none)

Weapon ideas:

- Electric sword. Basically, long, thin bar with tesla coils onthe hilt and tip, with a small blade on the tip for stabbing. It'd have a bluish glow on both sides of the bar where the electricity is being transmitted up and back.

- Serated swords, which would have a stronger bleed effect, but be slower to compensate for being more powerful.

- Poisen application for blades. This was a common practice in many areas. Honestly... I looted a DLT20a rifle once that had 100 charges of poisen... give CM's the ability to put their poisen in kits for melee folk. (also as of note, Rangers are trying to get a bow 'n arror, or some type of trap, with minor poisen effects as well. If that gets through, it might be Rangers making Melee kits from natural stuff)

- A rapier. Incredibly quick, but not high damage. Very stable range, maybe 20 between max and min. Also, low durability. Those things can be down-right flimsy.

- Boolas. Or something to throw ata kiter to 'trip' him. In essence, let us root PC's for a few seconds since we don't have lunge to at least kneel them for one.

- A more advanced sword! We have one tried-and-true European-style sword, and one Oriental. And... some Wookiee thing that the average human can't use properly from the weight (ie, why the Ryyk's HAM's are so high). Give us a broad sword with a range 1m above other 1-handed melee.

Other:

- Bucklers. Excelent melee defense, allowing you more successful blocks. Also, a skilled armorsmith could make them withstand some blaster fire, but it'd tear them apart pretty quick.

- Make a Gungan theme park... Prize? One of those sheilds they used against the Trade Federation...

'Tis all for now.

As of note, Katana are already in the game. It's labeled as a 'two-handed curved sword.' Anyone on bloodfin, feel free to check out my house, about 2km north of Keren on Naboo. Currenty on my wall is my Kodachi.

If you don't know what a Kodachi is, don't bring up Oriental swords

As a fencer, I would love to be able to use a one-hand lightsaber in game. Maybe not as well as a jedi, but sure would cause the other guy to stop and think a second before attacking you in PvP.

I would love to see a B*astard-type sword(dunno if it would be edited). A cross between a short-sword and longsword.

Have it be the slowest fencer weapon but with most damage. A stronger Ryyk with a littleless HAM and much slower. Have it become a powerhouse weapon for when you're with other faster melee men.

Rapier and Foil

The Vorpal Rapier and Vorpal Foil(These are talked about by some of the Non_player Characters in the game, but are not available)

A blade poisoning item(and item to allow a person to put poison on a blade)

Mono-Blade Weapons(since we are dealing with technology which has force fields and hyper space is it too unreasonble to think that weapons could be sharpened to with a mocule at the edge and made with harder materials.)

Khopeshs(a slight curved sword, usualy had the blade on one side and a notched piece used for cathing blade weapons and sometimes breaking them)

katanas(a long straight blade with a blade on one side, made for speed and presicions hits)

wakasashis(smaller then a katana but a straight bladed weapon with the blade on one side)

Ninja-to(a small flexible bladed sword made for hiding also had one blade on one side)

Maybe some form of a Main Gauche(Ie. a small dagger used in the off hand)

By the way...for someone elses post

A Zorro sword would either be a Rapier or Foil.

But for the Zorro style that would mean a Basket Hilt of intricate design.

Some Hilts where specific in their designs, as they where made to actually help in catching weapons or to protect the hands.

But in the times of Zorro, the thought was that Fencing was a gentlemans sport. And as such duals where still common place.

So the Hilts became more ornamental and flashy with no defensive ability.

Since the majority of the sword wielders where gentlemen with no more skill with a blade then anyone else.

Few people could boast true skill with a blade, and as such, their became many notable masters who then becasue of their skill their techniques bacame known by specific names.

I loved that time period...there is a show on Television on the History Channel called I think the Duelists....and it talks about fencers and the times back then....and they have a few people who actually do a duel at the end of each episode.

Can you imagine how many people would drop ranged and go melee just to be able to wield a Lightsaber (even if it had the same damage per second as our current weapons). We would probably become one of the most popular classes to play over night.

In a way this would be cool. It would let people have a little taste of Jedi without having to hope that you are the 0.1% of the population that will actually have the chance to play one.

First, let me state this: A masamune is not a type of sword. Masamune was one of the most famed swordsmiths in history. Any sword made by him, be it Katana, Kodachi, anything, was refered to as a 'masamune.' It's basically the same when you see a car: it's not a sedan, it's a Honda, or a Saturn. I don't care which, but you understand, right? Masamune is a brand name.

Also as a note: please read everything before you post. This thread isn't that long yet. I'll say again: Katanas are in the game. It's a two-handed weapon. Useable in one, yes, but a Katana is meant for two hands. Watch some Kendo some time, you'll realize it real quick

Ninja-to...? I know there's a blade smaller than a Kodachi. It's the Oriental version of a dagger. That's not that name, but I think it might be what you're refering too. 'Twas mainly used for seppuko though.

As for the Main Gauche, I already mentioned that as well. It's great for counterattacking. Couldn't remember the name for it for the life of me, but nearly any dagger or knife will do fine.
