Last ditch is considerably more powerful than stopping shot, and it adds stun.

I put mine into medic and scout. Scout (hunting 4)becauseI hunt for my husband (doc/chef) and medic (novice) because...well... I like being able to heal myself. That might change later though. I still have 22 points to play with yet.
I thoughtabout TK and I was going to do the Meditation line myself.Force of Willhas proven useful to some people and so has the meditating.
I have a prof calculator that might help you. It's called Kodan's SWG Profcalc from www.bloodfin.org
I've found it quite useful myself. Then you could see exactly what combo gives what benefits.

that template doesnt work, in fact it kinda sucks, i had a similar one, problem was i couldnt use stims, all implications of that is self explanatory. if you are going to PvP you need stim-Bs and you need at least 2,0,0,0 so you can do 1st aid. if you dont, you get owned by everyone because they wont even have to go for mindpool and the healthpool you wont be able to refill.
as for the defenses,
when holding a rifle your state defenses such as dizzy, kd, blind, stun, etc. are fully in effect and stack up to maximum of 125.
dodge skill is reduced to zero, since rifle doesnt have dodge and the fencer dodge has nothing to stack with when holding a rifle. so you have no dodge whiel holding rifle. if you want dodge to stack, then you need a profession that uses dodge, for example pistoleer or TKA.
rifle has Block, but Block doesnt seem to work and/or isnt fully or correctly implemented yet. i have been master rifleman since launch, and i have never blocked anything in game yet. i see NPCs and mobs block, but i have never blocked anything or anyone. not even once.
melee and ranged defenses work, and stack up to 125. i should note here that they cap at 125 even though your skill window will give you a bigegr number. for example my own ranged defense is 147, but it only works up to 125.
likewise for mitigation. rifle has ranged dmg mitigation, but not melee mitigation. so while holding a rifle your melee dmg mitigation is zero and your ranged will be maxed.
in general, while holding a rifle, your defenses will be much worse, especially vs melee, you will still be ok but not great vs ranged.
in order for any ability to work AND/OR stack, the profession of which your weapon is equipped has to have it as well. the moment you equip a weapon, that profdession becomes your primary and all other skills and effects stack / add to your prmary, not the other way around.
