I want to thank everyone for applying, I recieved alot of great applications. It ended up being a very hard choice.
There wasn't one of you who applied that I wouldn't have brought in if I could. And I encourage every one of you weather you applied for the sandbox or not to apply for the Beta, you'll all make a world of difference by being in.
In the end I went with some Forum and testing veterans, some who post alot and some who remain relativly quiet. All of the picks are from different servers and have different playstyles.
There are a couple people who have been with us the longest that I wish had the time to participate but didn't.
Now...
Everyone is under a strict NDA, so no go trying to pry information out of them if they decide to make their identities known.
Just keep in mind, as the picks will be finding out today, forget what you know... it's a whole new world comeing.
Look for public docs "soon" (tm).

That means that the Combat Upgrade will change so many things that you will need to forget what you know about the game, and prepare to be amazed.

or disappointed
mmos in general have poor track records when it comes to changes on this scale...so im fairly pessimistic about it

No MMO has ever made a change of this scale. Name one and you can have my job. I'll even leave it to one of the other picks to decide.

HA! I don't think you'll be dissapointed by the revamp... like minerunner has said, you might not enjoy fencer afterwards but trust me, the game as a whole will be ALOT better
that is if people come down from space =/ but i think once they hit ace they'll loose their 'sea legs'

I'm sure I won't be disapointed by the upgrade, but for some it's a little too late. Minerunner is right, no other MMO has done a change this massive after the game has been out for a year, but no other MMO has needed to.
If you think about it, the last year and a half have been like beta, except a beta we've been paying monthly for. We're just now finally seeing some major changes. It's too bad the mass population don't know the details of those changes. The combat upgrade forum is still private, only viewable by correspondants, sandbox testers, and devs.
I'm not sure why I wasn't picked for the sandbox. I'm as much a veteran as they come. Been a fencer longer than anyone I can remember still playing, since November of last year. I know the Fencer profession in and out. I could tell you the damage modifier and delay mod for every fencer special and what states each special inflicts.
I post in these forums everyday, answering questions and giving feedback on fencer topics. I was willing to devote alot of time to testing the CU in the sandbox, but it wasn't my call who got into the sandbox.

As I said Darth it wasn't personal, I certainly don't deny that you are as qualified as you are. There are simply alot of different things I had to look at when picking people... and in the end out of the 12 valid choices I had to go with 5. I even had to drop someone at the last minute simply because they didn't confirm fast enough.
Actually there are a couple MMO's who could have used this large of a change... E&B needed it badly... didn't happen and now it's gone.
Most MMO's haven't needed this kind of change because their combat system just isn't nearly as complicated. And it's not too late for some of us, though there might be other things that I can't stand not happening... and I've put up with as much as anyone could possibly put up with with SWG.
But, I'm sticking with it, I'm pushing for the changes we need. And I'm not giving up on it. I would like to think that you all won't either.
But to each their own.

Its like they say or I say "Theres nothing like running 3.5k meters to the Tusken Fort and getting killed 200meters before you actually reach the building" if you get my analagy there. What I am trying to say is the game could have kept going on its pace and been dead and gone before we saw any changes, but the Devs are doing an awesome job with this revamp. I'm very sure that this is going to improve my game play and all of yours. Enjoy and have fun. *whispers to self* damn sandbox damn why not me why not me.
have fun guys who got chose its all good
Thanks for all the posts Minerunner.

couldn't have said it better. I had thought about going to Matrix online when that came out but honestly, i'm not gonna go anywhere now. The changes are really exciting and will give a new life to the game. SWG till it ends for me i suppose =]

Well combat in Ultima Online completely changed with the Age of Shadows expansion. It went from skills based to complete reliance on items and changed many of the underlying formulas and systems. For lots of people it was too much and many ended up leaving. (I'm one of those people
Can I have your job now please?
