Just wondering, alot of my freinds went the TK / (insert weapon) rout. I do not like being unarmed. I was thinking sword, but they seem to have no defence. I see fencer has alotof defences. Yet everyone tells me if your not a TK you will lose to a TK.

Is this true? I would love to be a fencer just for the fun. And don't even mind losing a few fights. But I do not want to get my butt handed to me every time I PVP.

And I see TK hit for 3K damage. Swordsman hit for 6K. what can we hit for? on average???

well depends.

a fencer believe it or not really depends on tactics. we have some really cool attacks and other moves.

CoB for a fencer is by far better than any other melee proffesion ( whether or not the others are broke is beyond me )

2 good bleeds to health. Using tactics and applying the bleeds while a foe is KDed the first bleed you get will tik around 1.5k ( remeber atm resists for armor and AR are not calculated into DoT's )

Scatter hit 2 is a very good move that most fencers dont even use. around 3k damage

and Onehand hit 3 will also due out around 3k damage.

HAM cost is lower than anyother melee proffesion, but you will still run low if you are not buffed.

TKA is a tough opponent but to those who say they are unbeatable are truely mistaken. Good accuacy about the same damge as fencer ( less the bleeds ) and can self buff themselves half of thier mind ( and only orriginal Mind not buffed mind )

Swordsman hits hard, but is not very accurate, with damage mitigation they are the ones that suffer the most from this and they have very low defense in both melee and ranged.

Fencer is a defensive and precision build. It doesn't do 'Uber' damage in comparison to other lines. Typically does less damage, misses less, and gets hit less. As Fury_Chaser said... you have to know your profession, it's strs and it's weaknesses when choosing a fight. Since it's not based on brute power it's a little less forgiving.

the CoB of other melee prof is not broke!!! I dueled a master pikeman last night, we were using no specials except CoB, geez, it was like a kung fu movie, i dodge, he block, dodge again, block again, lol

When fighting a TK, use the posture change (lunge1) as an opener followed by dizzy (spam an extra if hes kneeling for safe measure, fyi, dizzy times do stack). The TK has much higher def v KD than they do posture change. I forgot the hard numbers but i remember them being significant. If done successfully, the only damage you receive are your HAM costs. Also, pick up master brawler, it is invaluable for any melee player going into pvp.

The above posters are correct, we do not win by raw damage, we win with technique. Each opponent has different weaknesses, study other professions, it helps.

Also, a trick I seldom ever see is an opponent using CoB before in striking range. CoB first as you close. It'll free up one slot from your combat que and assist you in catching the kiters (may they all rest in peace).

Hehe fencers can now win tka's with CoB, especially if fencer gets dodge from pistoleer as well. During that time you guys are almost impossible to hit. So yes you can very likely take out most if not all tka's maybe not everytime but still.

I can kick the crap out of tons of tka's with even cob. Its all about being smart and klnowing what you are going against. But on the other hand if he is buffed with high stun layered comp you better kiss your ass good bye because cob dousnt work so well on tka's with there god like accuracy.

Blind reduces their accuracy, I believe intemidate reduces their attack speed? But thos modifiers on placed on the other person before a chance to hit. If you are hit, then the 2nd roll occurs to see if you dodge. It's not a matter of stacking here. At least that's how I read Raph's thesis on dodge and to-hit chances..

TK's are beatable. CoB is powerful but they have high accuracy which hurts CoB for fencers. Using specials smartly such as blind2 and intimidate2 are critical. Warcry is helpful. I agree that Master Brawler helps a lot. TK will outdamage fencers without issues. You have to play smart. Fencing is about agility.

i dont know why people havn't figured it out yet.

Fencer will own a tka hands down. You have a better chance to resist anything he does to you, and you can apply your own dizzy/kd(lunge) combo. Both got warcry. But when hes on the ground you got a stun weapon for his composite armor. Not to mention CoB +dodge will make you near un hitable.

As a fencer ive never lost a duel agaisnt any melee. The low damage, people talk.. I duno i do 1.5k - 3k dmg to mobs with my gaderffi. Thats enough to kill somone in melee. Sure it will take 1 -2 more swings to finish off the tka but its not like you dont have the time while hes on the ground...

I'd be surprised if a tka beat a blademaster.

question:

ive heard a lot about CoB + dodge and how were unhittable, but isnt this also partially because of the tree we get thats +12 +12 / +15 +15 melee ranged alternating? Anyway the real question is since this gets taken into account before dodge would these defenses + blind or intimidate stack? cause im pretty sure blind + intimidate dont stack with dodge

that might be hard to understand but i couldnt think of a better wording and its late, so ya...
