Greetings

I wanted to get some clarification from other people as to the fencer purpose in life.
I've played just about every combat profession in the game, and recently started a project to do the whole Pistoleer/Fencer bit. I have so far not spent a huge amount of time with the melee professions in this game (I have a heavy swordsman, and a TKA, have yet to try Pikeman though). So i decided to make a fencer.

Initially, things haven't been going so well. Im intending to stick to my initial concept and go through with it, but im having allot of trouble doing so. This is nothing new to any fencer, but just in general, to those from outside, our DPS SUCKS!!!

On general, fencer weapons have ruffly the same damage ranges as pistols. That said.....our speed is SLOWER our HAM cost is about double to triple the amount of a pistol. And we get to experience all of this at point blank range getting hit rather then kiting.

Currently the only trully usefull thing about the class is that are defenses are better then allot of combat professions (as far as melee and ranged go) and of all the melee professions, where the only one that sticks to our ranged counterpart as far as "special defense" (Pistoleer and fencer both have dodge) as well as what HAM we aim for (Health).

A line said on one of the pistoleer forums once "Not only is our DPS low, but we target health, wich doesn't do much because 55% of generic attacks hit health as well, meaning that most creatures highest HAM....is health"

Given that little rant, is there anyone who can help me because I do actually want to get my fencer skill up. (Quick rant again....whats up with the switching HAM costs on weapons? Some are heavy in action, light in the others, one is REALLY heavy into mind, the other, REALLY heavy into health......almost like youd have to constantly change stats weather your doing PvP or PvE. Wich is really annoying. Reference is to Gaderiffi Baton and Stun baton)

Im a rodian, and currently sport a nice set of Advanced Ubese.

Can anyone give me hints on what to hunt or is it just weak low end stuff untill someday I get good?
For starters, as a rodian, whats a good stat set up? This question im thinking of doing in a seperate topic. Especially if I don't get any answers to this one in a few days.

The current purpose of a Fencer is to be a Tank in pve, not a damage dealer. It is also important to remember that Melee professions will absorb alot of damage, youWILL get hit, chances are though when your toughness, defences, and COB get high enough most things in the game will miss you repeatedly. My statswere as follows for a Zabrak Fencer/Master Brawler (since changed for holo professions):

900

400

400

900

400

400

750

500

750

If you have dr buffs use muon to buff the mind and fishak during the muon downer. Otherwise never go into battle without using Tatooine Sunburn and Muon.

You should only ever use the stun baton on stun vulnerable mobs or players. I find the curved sword best for PvP and NPCs. The Gaffi for everything else.

Fencer played right is one of the most deadly pvpclasses for Personal Kills, Dizzy/PostureChange KnockDown combo is quite effective. Master Brawler grants an assured KnockDown and in my opinion really brings out the best in Fencer with Warcry2. In pve I used the master brawler kd/warcry2 which would put the mob on the ground for 20 sec. If unable to kd warcry3 will still delay the mob for 20 seconds. Warcry1 will do it for 10 sec. My pvp sequence is:

dizzy

posture change or master brawler knockdown

Scatter hit

One Hand Hit

Warcry

One Hand Hit

Scatter hit

Usually they are incapped by now. Sometimes i throw bleeds in there as well. Fencer has some of the best health bleeds in the game.

Go up footwork first for the def and bleeds. I mastered fencer mostly soloing pickets on Dant and Ravenous Tortons on Rori. I used a pet until i got footwork done and then no longer needed a tank as i could tank for myself.

Sorry, there is typo where I say warcry 3. I mean warcry2.

My friend who was a Master Gunfighter started doing fencer to get the dodge stack. He liked fencer so much once he got about halfway done that he uses fencer as his main combat profession. He also regularly solos Kimos using the fencer bleeds. I have not done this but I did solo a krayt pre-patch.
