I highly doubt anyone can explain this to you.

I am fairly new to the combat side of SWG. I play a character thats master fencer/master rifleman, tka 3/0/0/4, and medic 2/0/0/0. I have done extensive testing on creature hit/miss ratio with different weapons equipted. Can someone tell me why I can stand equipted with a rifle and be attacked by 8 different high level creatures (9k+hams) for a period of 10mins and receive maybe 1 or 2 hits total, and then switch to my baton and receive at least 10hits a minute? Thanks.

I noticed this also when soloing pikets as Master Rifleman. I wasn't dodging but the creature totally missing me. I have NEVER blocked anything as my journey to master rifleman and as a master rifleman. I think we might have some one elses dodge stats. I think this is a bug.

Got your answer!
Prior to the new system, riflemen and Commandos had a 2.5 melee damage modifier.
This system has been replaced. The were meant to be able to get hit more often in melee, basically reducing their melee defense in that case.
Now there is a bug in it. It works the other way as intended.
Several tests have shown that infact, your defenses are increased while holding a rifle or a Heavy weapon, beeing a rifleman or commando.
The answer thereby does not lie in the actual defense modifiers, but rather in the system introduced to sever Riflemen and Commandos that is bugged right now.
