I'd like to see some fencer weapons with at least light armor piercing... that looks cool. The vibroblade has armor piercing, but it's too small... kinda reminds me of peter pan with his dagger. I'd also like to see the weapons get better the higher you go. I'm a master fencer, and I still think the best weapon is the gaffi stick. The gaffi stick is the next step up from the dagger and survival knife.... common sense would tell you that something at novice fencer would be higher than something at one-handed 2.


Also, where do you find a rantok sword? I took one from the jabba mission, that was supposed to returned to him.... Are they the only rantoks available?

I was thinking maybe the vibro blade could do heat dmg. The motor could heat the blade up and give us a new dmg type anyway.

Yes those are the only rantoks available, but they're all junk. An acklay gaffi is easily more powerful.



Anyways, I heard this earlier on the boards and I think it would be a great idea: unique master weapons. This is an idea for all profs not just Fencer, and this is how it would work:

- rapier


- saber or cutlass


- scimitar


also in the variety of an AP weapon

Because the fencer class is misnamed. True fencing weapons would be silly given the way the fencer class fights in the game. Look at the combat animation. Spinning, quick inward strikes from the sideswith theedge (not the point) of the blade. Lots of pivoting to provide momentum for strikes. The only thrust attack I ever see my character make isthe autoattack (which does no damage for a fencer :smileywink.


The fencer does fight with lighter blades than the heavy swordsman, but the fencer fights with a style more reminiscent of what one sees in Chinese swordfighting action movies. Lots of body movement in all directions (not linear), at least as many swings/slashes as thrusts. Sport fencing which uses the blades you mention, or even dueling with fencing blades would be useless against a rancor or a graul, which is probably why the developers chose not to mimic that school of sword combat in the game.


Anyway, fighting a seething bol with a fencing foil wouldn't do much. Don't change the weapons; change the class name. It's an easy fix. Make "Swordsman" into "Heavy Swordsman" (as it is already named in the skill titles) and "Fencer" into "Light Swordsman" (as,curiously enough, it is also already named in the skill titles - "Fencer" falls at the top of the second branch of the profession).


Don't be surprised that the name of the class doesn't accurately reflect what weapons it uses. Why does a fencer use a gaffi stick? Why does a heavy swordsman use an axe and a power hammer? Why does Teras Kasi have an armor piercing knuckle while fencers can't cut through bone armor because vibroblades are worthless? Okay, that last one was off topic. Hehe.

Rapiers, Foils, Sabers, Cutlass', Gladius', Machetes, those wooden Kendo swords, and for those Chef/Fencer types a meat cleaver.

despite the fact that the class is called 'Fencer', a rapier would be the stupidest sword to add. Think about the animations Fencer's have been given.. and really, is a rapier gonna punch a hole through a full suit of composite? Not likely, the rapier would just snap in two


A saber makes more sense. It's still part of the 'fencer' thing, but sabers are much stronger and can stab and slash with no trouble. I'm thinking chinese sabers foremostly

  • What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Fencer's weapon typically have?

    a high one because it would take a lot of skill to hit some one accurately while in a duel with a sabre because you would have to parry alot (but when hit would cause considerable damage) and slowly decreasing as you train towards master.

    oki im sure someone said this already but here it is master fencer u get cert to do dual weilding like u could buy 2 gaffs sticks and equip 1 or 2 so u could buy 2 rapiers and equipem noth if you put both your speed may decrease and your ham cost go up same but you ahve better block since you got mroe things to block with then again at fencer you could be fast enough to speed it up and weild 2 just as fast as one just my thought

    I would like to see a Katana, Falchion, longsword, saber and foil, anything but F*cking sticks and clubs! In fact I think that each tree should have its own weapon line, like footwork would be foil/rapier, Grips would be a Katana/Saber etc with a Master Fencer weapon at the end.
