Thread: best PvE template?

I have the same template, and it works very well in PVE.

Ipersonally dislike PVP, but I have taught myself how to fight. One of my guildmates who PVP's all day and has been quite good at it has been testing his various single-mastery PVP template ideas against mine. So far, he has yet to beat me in duels where drain is excluded (we're testing the rest of the template as if drain wasn't in the game...in case drain gets axed at some point, or the other Jedi has it too, etc).

So, this template is excellent for PVE, excellent vs BH, and excellent vs Jedi who don't have drain. You will lose against a Jedi who drains you first before doing anything else, unless you have a big stack of holocrons to burn and he doesn't. Thus, the Jedi-PVP variant of this template is MLS MDEF Heal 2xxx Enh xxx3.

I've got what I'm going to call "The Sucker" template, it's Master Healer/Master Defender/0044 sabers. I figure I can pretty much tank my a off with it and heal other group members while I stand there taking damage.

The corner stone of The Sucker is, of course, Master Healer because of it's uselessness in the revamp. If I were smart I'd pick up some enhancer for FR1 and suppression. In a group force won't be an issue since the default hit uses none and does about 3/4ths of specials, not to mention a ranged weapon that outdamages that with the basic ranged hit.

Tip to LEC/SOE: Sci-Fi MMO players don't necessarily belong to the same resource pool as fantasy MMO players.

I am not a PvPer, unlike most here on these forums. I was wondering what you folks think is the most effective PvE template? If I wanna hunt Krayts, Kimogilas etc, what do I want to consider? Any help appreciated. Oh I am already TKM and I have an ADKed set of Knuckles of Katarn, so I will be doing TKM for damage, but I don't care if I have to whittle them down to win, thats fine.

Would TKM/MDoc with Swords0040 be sufficient say?

TKM/MSwords/4000doc

I'm TKM/Doc/0030Swords 4240medic. I'm pretty good in PVP, but PVE sucks.

Why does PvE suck? I can take on a lot with just TKM/Ranger and some StimDs. Given the combat gimpiness that is the Ranger profession, how can doc make it worse? Or by sucks do you just mean "is slow to kill"?

Takes very long to kill the higher up, but I didn't make this template to PvE, I made it to tank and do PVP. My Jedi is all offense, so it's nice to have an alt who is all defense.

Ranger is anything but uber or fixed. It is still broken and many things that have always been broken (as in since the release of the game), are still broken and non functional. Worse yet, the formerly unique special states that Ranger traps delivered were beefed up and improved, and handed out as all the current weapons specials in the CU. As well, most of the Ranger traps are broken atm. Camo works but is almost unnecessary due to the effects of CL differences on Aggro in many cases, and the Camps serve less of a purpose than they used to since there is seldom a reason to put one up these days. There is very little effective functionality in Ranger but it has a small and dedicated set of adherents who believe we might get our promised revamp someday.

I have a different playing perspective though - I want to roleplay a bit, and definitely explore and be a PvE character. The majority of people I see actively PvPing are the sort of folks I can't stand mostly - d00dz of the worst and most juvenile type for the most part. I am only going FS for the alt character slot for instance, and have no plan on wasting my time with Jedi. I am offended by the conduct of most of the Jedi I see and have no wish to be even remotely associated with them.

I do like TKM immensely though, and I am likely to end up going TKM/Doc when I pay for FS skills, since Ranger also costs more than any other profession in the game and I cant be TKM/MRanger and pay 24pts for FS skills sadly.

If you want to do the high end pve I would stick with tkm/master doc/xx3x swords, if you have more skillpoints try and get critical strike, if not dump them into fs melee speed. Also whenever you fight make sure you have a med droid out.... increases your heals by a lot.

sorry... i see i didnt type my message out right... what i meant was

Rangers were for a short period very very uber at PvE,due to the p-dart bug. I am well aware of Rangers state as i myslef was Master Ranger for along time pre-CU.. its IMO the proffesion in the game that needs the most love atm.

Rangers have the most borked proffesion in the game, but also the best community in the world... i miss my rangers days

For PvE, it's important to think what role you like best & especially if you intend to solo or be grouped.

As you intend to stick with TKM,I presume youlike the defence/tank side of things. For soloing, all the suggestions with Doc in them are probably best.

However, if you intend to fight almost always in groups, try:

TKM, MPike, Sword 0 2 4 4, MBrawler.

I'm regularly praised for being a great tank with this template. & it suits someone that is roleplaying a defender-type character, bodyguard etc. As I'm always grouped, there's always someone around with heals on the rare occasion that stim Ds & bliel & synthsteak aren't enough.

One point though, you need to train your groups to work WITH you & not against you, eg. not to shoot till you have taunted etc.
