Thread: Fencer/Doc any fun?

The problem with Fencer in PVE is not that the mobs can hit us, it's that we have no armor piercing. I'm a Master Fencer and it can take me and a TKM friend upwards of an hour to kill a Tusken Observer or a Nightsister Elder. Several TKMs and I once fought Axkva Min for so long that we had to take turns backing out to re-buff during the fight. Add a Swordsman or a Rifleman in the mix and these things can be killed in 10 minutes or less.
Fencers are great in PVP, and we can be fantastic tanks in PVE, but no armor piercing means long, slow battles.

Agreed. I actually like the idea of being the low-damage, super-tank for a group so that the other members can pull out the damage weapons and whail away without worrying about being hit. In most cases there is no problem with this, but if you're going up against a super battle droid, tusken observer, NS elder or similar, there is little to no chance of dodge working due to their accuracy modifiers, yet you still live. 2h swordsmen, pikes, and tka's all also live in the same situation. That just means that the other melee profs can tank as well as a fencer and can do more damage. I'm sure this issue is up on the blocks for the combat revamp, but at the moment, PVE is dominated by swordsmen and, of course, riflemen.
I don't think fencer should ever be a dominant solo PVE, but I would love to see fencers as the best PVE tanks, getting hit very little even by high-end mobs and being a great group prof for high-end dungeons etc. Otherwise, increasing the damage output of fencers has more justification if have the same defenses as other profs against hard mobs.
My $.02
EXACTLY!

It depends, if you want to kill stuff, Doc and 2HS would be better.
However, if your the type of Doc who likes being errrr a Doc, meaning healing people, removing disease, taking care of your group, Fencer is a great profession.
You will be tough to kill. Not getting hit much yourself, means you can focus on others.

So I guess I was hallucinating about the damage we were doing to her during the 3+ hours we fought Axkva.
Just so you know, 100% doesn't mean 100%, some damage does get through. Very little, which is why it took so long. Once she got to 50% health, she healed herself too fast to damage, and we focused on mind, using DOTs poison, disease and fire on her too.
Obviously with Fencer and TKM this would not be my preferred way to kill Axkva. Swordsman and Rifle would do it much much easier.
But it can be done... just so you know.
