Well, I don't know about armor piercing for fencing weapons. I just think back to the medieval arms race...armor, bigger swords, better armor, bigger swords, etc..until you had these guys stumbling around covered with iron and lugging about 15 pound blades that weren't so much used for cutting as bashing your opponent senseless. At some point they realized how ridiculous they looked and started saving a lot of money on metal by making little bitty blades that they could use to poke someone very swiftly and run away. And if the silly twit insisted on wearing what amounted to a primitive gas oven while everyone else wised up and wore cotton, well, skinny blades can find little bitty holes in armor to poke through, as well.

We don't really need an armor nerf for the combat rebalance so much as we need armor holes to poke our little blades into. Not just the eyes, either. Points all over the body. Soft points that bleed. Good times.

Notice:

I am not concerned if it is glass or not. The above examples are similar to my idea in the fact that these blades are not very hardy so must be used with care (master cert and low durability).

Actually someone covered in full plate armor was very manuverable and was the most devestating thing on the field of combat back in the day. One handed weapons were great for fighting chainmaile and leather lammelar clad warriors since it was possible to cut through it (but with effort) or pierce it. When they finally transitioned to full plate armor a one handed sword (yes the big ones they used to chop off body parts) became a back up, peasant/conscript killer, or station/relic of office. Bigger two handed swords, axes, polearmsand MACE's were used to great effect though.

Then came gunpower which has suceeded or had a major hand in the downfall of the armored warrior on every continent on this world. What took years of training and tons of money for equipment was complete negated by an unarmored peasant that only had 2 months of training and practice with muzzleloading weapon.

"Considering the technology level of starwars..."

I think it's hilarious you even thought of a way to "make" these weapons.

Wow.

Im glad everyone is thinking, but i just must say that the idea of a low durability weapon with low damage and good armor peircing seems useless to me. I know i do fine with my vibroblade or stun baton. If we all get weapons like the pistolers did, i think all the weapons should have comparable stats. Ap1 with a damage of 200-400 is what we need. This should be a MASTERS weapon, not a breakable toy. Good idea though.

what annoys me is that the Vibro Blade is near useless. half the time even lacking the AP an average gaddi can equal a high quality vibro in damage output. we need a plausable AP weapon, i'm not asking for an AP2 or anything just hell even give the curved sword AP1 i'd be happy (come on the 2hand has AP2 is there that big a difference?)

Hi,

It is important realize AP2 will make fencer extremely powerful profession. SOE will not likely to give us AP2 weapons. This is because we can outdamage Master Swordsman with weapon with AP2. (refer to damage calculator) (Even with stinking vibroblade. Yep fencers rock!) However, they might consider it if there is some factor that make this weapon non-FoTM.

I proposed low durability as this factor. So you all keep it till you meet someone you really want to whip his/her butt. Which I think you all like. I know it is not perfect. I would like to see your ideas on this.

(If you have used the damage calculator, you realize why fencers with stun batons does so much effective against non-stun-armored targets. So getting higher damage weapons is unlikely. 200-300 stun batons exists and they are very deadly. Not to mention high power gaffi.)
