Thread: How are fencers in pvp?
Personally, after a few fights solo and alone in PvP, I think I'll hold off till some "more" fixes go through...until then if I want to pvp I'll stick to a first person shooter.
I have not lost once in a duel yet using blind/knockdown
you get that, GAME OVER.
you just need to be smart when you play. if you are fighting a ranged shooter, STOP FIGHTING HIM.
Being a fencer means being tactical, and making quick actions a reality. Fencing isn't for everyone, thank god, i'm suprised if anyone will keep fencing.
the numbers will dwindle as time goes on, and there are more master elite marksmen classes. oh, don't forget the slew of bounty hunters that are wanna-b boba fetts
yeah i said it. too many Bounty hunters, and they need to get nerfed.
ive held off on fencer for a while and concentrated on other skills
I don't know guys.. have you ever tried getting them into close quarters? I know its easier said then done, but try to pick your fights. Like in one of the many player cities or housing areas outside of officla towns. Just duck into a house, and if a ranged attacker follows you in, you've got them unless they're really quick with a knockdown of some sort (for a rifleman you'd have their ass right away)
Or in a city, run into a starport or a hotel or cantina or any of the other enterable buildings. Then do them in if they follow you. Many will be uncomfortable about going after you indoors.
And use the TEFs: if you're an Overt faction member and a covert enemy faction member attacks a factioned NPC, they get a temporary enemy flag for 10 minutes or so. It means they show up as blue dots on radar and their names are blue but you can target them, and they can only defend themselves (not initiate combat). So run right up to them while they're doing missions, and lunge.
Also, and base captures (both player owned and NPC bases) become more common, brawlers of all types will be needed for the close in fighting inside the base structures. But this whole scenario is a lot more rare.
I am actually one of the most involved fencers for pvp on my server( wanderhome). I camp cities at a time and kill anyone i see thats red. This means that I go solo only. I do not go killing in groups or with pets/guards. For one example tonite I fought at least 10 people and all were ranged. I will tell you this I love being out in the open more then in confined areas. You have to go at the full force if you want to live against a ranged person. There is no way running will help you because by then they have already hit you and gotten u down in health. If you can heal yourself you could do that but then you are losing mind. Basically my fights go like this. I see an imp so i prepare myself by getting outdoors first. Dont get in a spot with aton of people as it seems to be hard to see someone shooting you from far away. Get around a corner from the ranged person and run at them. Go at them with lunge first then dizzy. Almost everytime I have done this they are down on the ground for about 5-10 seconds ( a few times I've had them down for over 1 minute). When they are down I hit body hit 3 to kill them and if they try and get up use lunge fast. If you miss on the lunge in the beginning you will have to use burst run to get ahead of them and lunge then. Its really simple. I only died twice today from PVP and won about 10+ fights. I killed a guy with 2 AT-ST's today and every person I killed I killed their pets to. If you are fighting a melee try and kd them first but depending on who they are you will have to see what happens. At least get them prone or kneeling and then get the body hits in. Use a ryyk or something with good dmg and speed. HAM wont be a problem unless you kill people slow as hell( not me). So far ive probably killed over 300 people just fooling around. Another thing is make sure you are cloned. If you are cloned you can run back to the person who killed you and catch them in surprise. NOTICE : you CAN kill people who killed you even when you are covert if you are fast. it works wonders alot because they dont know what hit them.
One hit of advice if you want to be a good PVPer do not stay in the same area you killed them in. You will want to move far enough away to heal up till you are ready again. For Fencers its all about speed and surprise. I kill ranged in about 3-5 hits or less with body hit 3 right now. I have PK' d in every game so far and find this one the most challenging because there is no *uber* class. My guild mates have said this so far as well. The only flaw we have found is that we cant kill our own faction except by dueling. Which to us(PKERS by heart) makes this game s.uck compared to others.
And this is for all the people who might think I am one of the crazy l337 dudes. Well im not and I always wish every person a good fight either way if i lose or win.Its just a game. Have fun. If anyone has Q's for me post em. I will be master by monday.
