I agree...or even give a different command for "melee" encounters would be nice...as a former DAoC player, I used a lot of "/stick" - In SWG there's only "/follow", DAoC's "stick" commandwould put one on the target at "melee range"...if there were a similar command in SWG that could setone up at an "ideal" range, that'd be super nice


ex. "/stick 4" (follow target within 4m)


The same concept could be used with a ranged fighter as well if you think about it.

4.Other melee proffesions have 60+ toughness at master except Fencer, who has under 30, I would like to see this even and give us another +mod to equal it out.


5. Extend the lungre range by +3 to get the same 15m lunge.

BTW I messaged the weaponsmith correspondant to let him know, we would like different sword blade, pommel, scabbard graphics. I suggest if youd like these too, do the same.

Sounds good. However, I'd hate to see us get something just because the other classes get it. I'd rather see us having something unique to our class that is just as worthwhile.


As an example, how about a 'Flury of Bl0ws' mode that makes your attacks extremely fast for a short duration. Kinda like Berserk. But this doesn't address a current problem, so maybe just file that into the vault for a later update.

YES! YES! YES!


On a related note, I would like to see something like this:


/Stick [Distance] : this would be like follow, but would force your character to stay at the specified distance when possible.

Absolutely. All melee professions should have extremely high toughness. If our "shtick" is that we are very nimble and not as tough as other melee, make us have like +120 dodge or something. As we currently stand, we simply do not have enough defense to melee any of the big mobs.

Sounds like a plan. IMO, if the stick command was added (see above) this would no longer be an issue.

I read your idea on stances and that would be great, i also read they tried to implement that but couldnt get it to work right so they put it in the back room.


To have melee characters balanced seems to be one of the biggest issues. But how do the devs balance the 4 professions without makeing them all the same, just with different weapons. here is a couple ideas i have.


1. Speed Caps



  • TKA

  • Fencer

  • Swordsman

  • Pikeman

2. Differnt HAM pool targeting (done)


3. Unique special moves.



  • TKA- Moves that target all HAM

  • Fencer- Disarm, Second hand parry sword.

  • Swordsman - Possible New type of beserk, Move that nulifies AR

  • Pikeman - Move that attacks and raises DEF considerably, Multi pool Bleed

4. Wider Stat/Stat



  • Fencer- Lower on Tough High on Acuracy/Dodge, High on speed, Low Damage

  • Swordsman- High on Tough low on Acuracy, High on Damage, Med on Speed

  • Pikeman- High on Def, Med Tough, Med Acuracy, Low on speed. Med Damage

Going with #4 as an example:



  • Fencer - 20 Toughness

  • Swordsman- 40 Toughness

  • Pikeman -30 Toughness

The key to this all would be the Unique Special moves. again example



  • Swordsman vs Fencer

Fencer would outdue Swordsman in speed, and dodge. Swordsman would kill the fencer in 2-3 hits. Dodge and Disarm would be the winning key, while Swordsman would rely on brute STR.



  • Fencer vs Pikeman

Pikeman would rely on boosting his DEF to avoid the fast acurate swings of the Fencer. Fencer would use same tactics.



  • Pikeman vs Swordsman

Pikeman useing DEF and armour to advantage, using bleed. Swordsman using specials to increase STR then use the AP attack.

We are actually not too far away from what is discribed above the only thing missing is the Unique special moves, and changing stats around for balance. I think more people would sat swordsman would be overpowered but if DEF and Dodge worked the way it should (We need Dev response on that) it would balance out very nice, makin each class unique.

I really like this idea and I've been thinking of sorta the same thing. I'd say one of the things that hurts Fencers is the same speed cap for all classes. With the cap the way it is, even with an uber fast weapon, we still hit only slightly faster than the best 2H weapons, which doesn't make tremendous sense.

Fury -


Good stuff. When I get online tonight, I'll put together a complete list of all the bonuses the different melee classes get as they level. This should give us a good starting point on the bonuses.



Haschel -


If the attack speed cap is a problem, then the answer is simple:


add a new set of bonuses that add a percentage chance to "double attack". This would only be possible on normal attacks, so it would not increase our special damage in an unfair way, but would offer us a decided attack speed advantage at higher levels.

comon guys, a whole slue of you all are posting but we try to get everything together in the absence of our Correspondant, and no one is talking about anything written above this post.


lets make an effort in keepin our issues, known to other fencers, and discuss them. No one else has any other ideas complaints, or did my brilliant post sum up everyones?
