the reason for the 3 points of dmg difference between the two weapons is not b/c of tkia but b/c your defs are higher with unarmed wep due to the mods with tka.

If you look at what he posted he said with a one handed weapon he absorbed 53 points of damge out of 104 points and with an unarmed weapon he absorbed 51 points out of 101 points. That is same percent as the one handed weapon when (due to higher mods) he should have absorbed more than 51 points with the TK weapon equiped

Opps guess I should of read more closely thanks for pointing out my mistake,

Going against the Chiss Poachers in ROTW,Innate Armor seems to work with a PSG equipped. The PSG didn't offer much additional protection, but more importantly the TIA still worked.

Yes thx we have esatblished that. The question now is why did he not resist more with a tk weapon as opposed to a fencer weapon

Okay, I see what you're asking.Actually, he resisted the samewhether he was armed or unarmed. Not the same damage, but the same percentage of damage.

- He absorbed 53 of 104 with anacid sword.
- Heabsorbed51 of 101 unarmed.

Because his unarmed defense was higher, he took less damage before armor absorbtion is calculated -- 101 damage. Fencer gives him less defense, so with acid sword he took 104 damage.

In either case, the innate TKA armor absorbed the same percentage of the damage.Itlooks likethe defense adjustment is calculated before the armor adjustment. This is probably true for for anyidentical suits of armor.

If hewas holding a weapon in which he had no defense, such as a CDEF pistol, the difference in damage at the end would be radically different but the percentageshould be the same.

I bet your right but i gues it would help to know the base damge before that then. The reason i thought that the base damage was different was because mobs dont hit for the same ammount each time but your probably right.

Yeah, that's right, they don't hit the same every time. Right now it still looks like the same percentage of armor absorption, but I would have no idea what the formua is for base damage, or for the kind of damage modifiers factor in when there's a difference in offense, defense, CL, etc.

Why would he? It just works if you have TKA. I pretty much think it's that simple.

Hmm... so what profession melee-wise works best with TKM? Fencer, Swordsman, or Pikeman? I'm currently trying MBH/Master Carbs, but eh... nice as ranged is, it just FEELS akward to someone who's been melee from almost the very start of his time playing. So I'm wondering if a melee-oriented template using TKM would also be good or not...

"TKIA (TK innate armor) works fine while holding any melee weapon. i'm not sure if it works while holding a ranged weapon."

It does, when I hold my Renegade pistol combat log shows I am doing similar resistance as I would be unarmed, but the +75 unarmed defense isn't in effect.

Does wearing a shield gen cancel the innate armor?
