Sounds confusing, but heres a quick explanation for those with short attention spans... Say I have a T21 Rifle. That has an armor rating of Heavy. If I use this rifle to shoot a piece of composite armor (which is rated at light) I would recieve a +%50 damage bonus with that rifle. Becuase a T21 Rifle is two ratings above composite armor, it recieves two +%25 bonuses which add to %50.
Now here is the kicker - if I get a suit of composite armor..and INSTEAD of having stun as a vulernability, I craft a ONE PERCENT layer into the armor... You may think "that sucks" but reflect on what I said above.....
creating even a layer as small as %1 for stun in armor MOVES stun from the VULERNABILITY section to the SPECIAL PROTECTION/EFFECTIVENESS section thus giving you an armor protection of "light" against stun damage.
what does this mean? well...now when I take my stun baton out and try to hit Joe with it who is wearing a %1 stun resist suit if armor, my attacks are now reduced FIFTY PERCENT because of the armor rating reduction.
The point is here that stun armor is getting really popular (especailly stun helmets) and in NO WAY is raising the armor rating on the stun baton overpowered AT ALL.
Considering the above facts..look at rifleman...Their Jawa Ion Rifle which does stun damage has an armor rating of LIGHT!!!! That means it pierces the armor just like butter..and since stun layers are really low (below %45) they barely take a reduction in damage at all AND they can target mind.
FENCERS CANNOT TARGET MIND! And our own stun baton is suffering %50 reductions in damage from people with a small %1 layer...
You want to scream overpowered, look at the person who is totting an ARMOR piercing stun weapon and who is spamming you with headshots.





A well informed post, but in my opinion making the stun baton AP1 would make fencer over powered. Fencer is already the best profession for armor-laden pvp, even WITH stun protective armor out there. People scream that rifleman is overpowered all the time, because they have their AP1 stun weapon primarily. The exact same thing would happen with fencer were it to be given an AP1 stun weapon.

As far as fighting folks in stun armor, I do it all the time with a low damage (~225dmg with powerup) Acklay baton and I generally do just fine. As far as the batons and their damage go, acklay batons are just becoming popular, we are on the upswing right now folks. There will be more and more and more incredibly powerful stun batons in the weeks and months to come. Adding AP1 to the baton would increase the nerf calls that much more. Perhaps my server is the exception, but since I've been paying attention to acklay weapons, I have met no less than 6 people on my server who have stun batons ranging from 400 to 650 max damage. Those batons are just plain mean. Like I said maybe my server and the people I know are the exception, but I highly doubt it. I think that alot of people just like to keep their best weapons under wraps, and that is why were not hearing more about the really powerful weapons out there. There are 800 damage laser rifles, 1000 damage T21s, 650 damage stun batons, 700 damage Jawa Ions, 1200 damage powerhammers, etc floating around my server simply in the group of people I know and PvP with, who knows what's on other servers, or in the hands of other people whom I dont know. I don't think that the assumption "there is only one 900 damage stun baton" is a good assumption, I'm willing to bet that there are many, many stun batons in the class considered "unbelievably high damage" that we don't know about.

AP1 would be great for fencer's damage output, but it would be bad for the profession as a whole in my opinion.

I think Stun Baton's should get AP1 or so. On my server people wear 40% stun, and have Sheild generators with over 40% stun Resist. SO with out AP even a good Ackaly Baton is useless. Now almost every weapon is useless. How come a Rifleman get a Jawa Ion Rifle with AP1 how far is that. How about giving each combat profession AP1 Stun to even things out.

Funny you guys should mention this. If you're an old school fencer then you should remeber that the stun baton used to be Ap 1. Somewhere between patch 4 and 6 the stun baton was nerfed and given ap 0.
