As a master of both, I equip a fencer weapon when I really need to tank something..

Like I said, none of us had spent a lot of time there(well, our tkm/doc grinds doc there he says) and we made lots of bad decisions. The first bad one was that our group got separated near the mercenary room. And while we waited for people to get the datapad, more kept spawning. My other role is healer, so I really couldnt just leave the people getting hurt. The other bad one was trying to rest in the kliknik cave.../sigh...BAD idea lol.

well im a master fencer/tk/ pistoler 0-0-3-1



and i can Tank a dark jedi master with fencer* pop a air cake in, slap some steak in my mouth, and COB always* i tank he very very very well. BUT when i swich too TK omfg he rapes my ass too the holy pits of hell!!!!!!!!!! no contest that fencer is a extremly better tank then tk.

If you have this template you can tank Krayts, Kimos and NS Elders no problem. Just use some 80% kinetic comp, Buffs (including musician/dancer), synthsteak (40 % damage reduction on my server), a looping COB macro and capped Cattack or Dodge, then you'll drop anything in the game.Also, keep things intimidated (if you can)

juststarted on fencer but i am master swordsman as well tanking a giant canyon kryat no problem with master swordsman fencer 0003 kd/dizzed me regually but even when i'm on the groud the bugger never got me to lower than 2.5k ham. looking forward to when i'm master of both profs for sure.

i killed 2 armored buffed tkms and a pistoleer in coronet this morning


1st the tkm started attacking me and the pistoleer was about 15m away


i dizzied the tka then lunged 2 him followed with my blind/bleed/bleed/intimidate macro


then spammed scatter 2


2/3 ways thru his mind he stood up so slapped on a lunge 1 and finished him off


then knocked this pistoleer down and killed him in like 3 hits


they the final tka tefed attacked me and tried to uakd 2 me 3 times in a row and all i got was a dizzy


so i dizzy/lunge 2 him and procede to scatter 2 him to death


all this i had 2100 buffs a mind buff and 2 402 brandies


im poor on starsider so i learned to fight without armor


and my baton is like 105-172 or some crap


and when done i had maybe a lil under 1/2 ham


i was very proud of my self


and all the tka's gave me a good show /tell

Fully buffed, with 70% resist composite and tanked on Brandy I can solo ANY single mob under 40,000 HAM. Lairs of 12 Gurks at a time? No problem. 9 Kliknik Dark Defenders? I might as well be sleeping it's so easy. Just above the 40k HAM mark I start to run into issues with mind damage or resists that are far too high for my puny Acklay Stun Baton to deal with. But with a group of one or more people? I am uber tank! Master Fencer and damn proud of it!

Depends on the mob and character build.



As a TKM and Blademaster, I will use fencer against mobs like the geno mercs. I can sit in that room and spin attack away for hours, even during the insane spawns, of 12 popping in each spawn location. In high end pve, krayts and such, tka is better.


the trick is how much damage the mob does....


if its an uber mob, tka without vks equipped negates my armor hole, and 1 psg and wookiee armor will allow me to tank a giant krayt without incap, while 1-2 rifleman destroy its 450k mind. Same with high level NS.


with fencer, in order to get the cob to work most effectively, you have to be wielding a fencer weapon, (stun baton) or 1hsword. i'm not sure about this, but it doesn't seem to work as well with a gaddi equipped, maybe since its a "melee" weapon, without an advanced, 1h weapon cert.


with tka, you can cob (altho not as effectively) without vks equipped, but youcan still do all your specials.


once you unequip your weapon, your armor hole dissappears, and you can take that high enddamage for a LOT longer....







The dev team would never allow any kind of imbalance so that one group of people would "cut swaths" through crowds of people.

Master Fencer and Master Doc. Geo cave, no problem tanking anything in there. The other day, I kept and unbuffed Master Swordsman and myself alive (from almost the beginning) and met up with two others at the Acklay. Geo cave isn't hard, just takes amazing patience by yourself, but you can do it. I have never had the Acklay to myself, but I'll get there on day. It's just a matter of being lucky enough to be there by myself. I'm somewhat sure I'll be able to take him down solo, it'll just take forever. Who knows, I could be wrong, but there's only one way to find out.

Ok, I posted in another thread....but the Acklay attempt solo using my fencer character proved unsuccessful. I just couldn't seem to damage him enough in my 10min long fight with him.

I hear the datapad bit that is what killed killed my party also...i survived long after them....and that was with being the tank and the doc at the same time it was the revives that killed my mind pool...which got me killed I love fencer i dont want to grind any more because i dont want to drop either doc or fencer.

A quick update on my tankage: Hit the Geo Lab again last night, and due to a *small* bug on the Tempest sever, we had MULTIPLE spawns of all NPC's. I understand the crazed Geonoshians in the cave entrance usually spawn 6-7 at a time, and sometimes that doubles or triples...but 45 of the crazy buggers??? I was able to tank through about 25 of them after the rest of my group had cloned, and it was easy enough to slice through the rest once my party knew what to expect. Same thing with the Mercenaries, had about 20 of those in that tiny room, and it wasn't until after about 20-25 straight spawns (I couldn't get my group to actually get their **** together) that myself and another Fencer we hooked up with finally gave in.

I love this profession, it's nice to be able to actually stay and fight a Mob for longer than a few seconds.
