so you have to do testing all over again? this really bites for you on some levels. is there any way the Devs can just give us the math for these things? we're gonna figure them out anyway, and it can't give us an advantage can it?

if not, i'm always willing to help.

I could, but everything is getting revamped. Id be more interested in hearing what you folks have to say on how you WANT it to stack since we are doing the combat balance.

sorry to be rude but are these our only problems we sumitted? did we sumbit any problems about other things like ham costs and weapons or did we just sumbit nitpicking questions about titles and a few text words?

Can we have some more changes to fencer that don't involve text changes? lol. How about a knockdown/posture move that actually works?

Thunderheart: thanks for taking time to reply to me.

i would like to reiterate that once the combat system is set up that i really think it would be helpful if the formulas for figuring accuracy, damage, mitigation, resistance and such were a sort of 'open-source.' i've worked closely with Raphayl (and you've seen her data sets... massive) and while it would afford me more time with such a lovely lady... um, i don't wanna if i don't hafta, you know? the testing that is, not spending time with Raph. though i do wish she'd quit beating on me quite as often.

if nothing else, at least let the correspondents know how the math works. i know it'll change, i know it may have bugs. but we can't focus on fixing what's wrong when we're spending hours and hours just figuring out how many rolls there are in a single attack, and what modifiers modify what, and when, and how many times, etc. keep an eye out for Raphayl's post to answer your request for how we want it to stack up.

thanks!

I find this all GOOD news. Since the devs are completely reworking combat, it means that every combat community has been heard. They looked at the problems and they realized that patching would never fix the problem. The only way to fix the problem was a significant redesign of many systems.

This is all good stuff.

Of course, this also means that we don't get much in terms of a response on our issues this month. I can live with that.

VemaGara, you're right. they actually have done a marvelous job. it's rare that people can see that. i wish there was a way we could get people to sit at the devs' desk for a day, and go to their meetings, and deal with the programmers and the database designers. i've done a little of each in a business setting. which means it only has to work properly, not be pretty, fun, and storyline-accurate. this is not easy stuff, and it seems like they always get blind praise or blind criticism. perhaps if people knew exactly what they did, all the nonsense would end.

they did something that didn't work like they thought it would and now they're fixing it. while i'm not happy about learning a new way to fight, i'm ecstatic that they care, and are willing to do such a task. i suppose the best way to thank them is to match my effort in enjoying the game to their efforts in making it enjoyable.

symbiotic relationship folks.

Hey I just picked up brawler and working towards fencer. This is great info and I'm especially to hear about the dodge animation, being nearly a master pistoleer also. Yes!!
