Thread: Stun Batons being useless becasue everyone has stun armor + PSGs? Come on people.

What a Rip off - My stun baton is 70-150 dam and 1.9 speed. Really, im starting to think I suck - hehe.


Although, I do have stun 39% and 75-80on all other stats along with a Sliced PSG thats like 30-40%

Just a question, I had a TKM/master fencer/master brawler test on me with an Ackley stun baton, vibroblade and vibro knuckler of mine.

We all (or most) know TKM is pretty tough in both PVP and PVE but limited to one type of damage, although a 2.2 50-194 damage VK seems to still outdamage a 2.4 60-196 vibroblade vs the same armor. I know the unarmed damage goes into account but shouldn't a fencer's 1handhit3 do close to as much damage? I'm not entirely clear on this.

Also wearing 40% stun/77-82% base armor (chest/helmet/gloves/boots) with a 48% sliced PSG, a 3.1 146-202 baton did 7 to 15 damage on me. That is without any melee toughness or mitigation, the toon I tested it on is BH 0040 pistoleer 0041 master smuggler and novice commando.

unless you both dont know what you are doing.. both fencer and tka will stun/intim you.. oh wait? fencer cant stun? no more 25% damage reduction on tka, so.. first they do intimidate, 50% redution. then stun, 25% reduction, then 40% stun armor. then another 45%+ psg... all buffed/armored duels between all melee masters (not including dots or insanely good weapons) will/should last until your armor breaks, or you/they arent doing something right.

I think the issue here is not necessarily with fencer alone, but moreso with almost every melee profession. At the current stage of the game if you take 2 melee classes who have stacked some defense (or even sometimes if you haven't) and have them fight without dots, the duel is endless. With all the high 80%+ base armor, PSGs, buffs and food, plus so many people with defenses almost capped, it's just hard to do damage, especially now with poison resist buffs and making poison stick less (in my opinion they should have waited till the combat revamp to do this).

Not only are you missing every other hit, but the Fencer(And lets say you do aswell) also has Synthsteak, well guess what your going to be hit more often than the Fencer because your Def Acuity will allow you a 33% chance to do a block, which does DMG, which takes away a hit from Synthsteak, mean while the Fencer is just dodging your hits left and right.

Realistically, Fencer vs TKM is a really good fight. But im tired of hearing that sad arguement that "Well people run around with 40% Stun armor + PSG's + Synthsteak". I bet half of the people that make this arguement dont even PvP in the first place. And this is just a duel situation. Dont get me started on a huge battle, Imps vs Rebs, with a bunch of FOTM whoring Jawa wielders. Yea, have fun with your PSGs then.







Let's assume that everything you said is correct (it does leave out toughness, so your off there,) you forget that the Stun baton does not have any armor piercing at all. So right off the bat, you lose 50% of your damage. Then lose 40% more from the armor. Then the PSG.


The TKM at least has AP1.

It seems to defend against a stun baton you need to be on your toes. I seem to eventually get damage through with it. When I recently dueled a master doc master tkm with my master doc master fencer we drew because I had no thak and spent too much time on my back. I could damage her and she could not damage me. With only 60% kinetic resist I was kd dizzied and still she couldnt do much damage to me. When I was on my feet I eventually damaged her. She is a vet too. I hear the numbers and the calcs with ap0 and psg and it seems correct from what I quickly read. In practice though, I do seem to get damage through but its a long fight if I cant get a dot on them. I think states becomes very important in fighting both docs and non docs. Docs because they have to stop and heal and non docs because it hurts their ability do damage you.


Its always a good fight though..
