Thread: Hotkey & Macro Guide. Sort of.
Raphayl - in my experience of using the command you suggested above, it goes back to the previous hotkey pane, rather than the previous one used. For example, all of my armour is hotkeyed on Pane05, but my swords and specials are on Pane01 - using the command /ui action toolbarPanePrev in a macro, in the line after my armour is equipped, will take me to Pane04 rather than the pane I came from originally.
However, this is just in my experience - if someone else has found something different, please let me know what I'm doing wrong!
Thanks again for the sterling work done here.
(and please excuse the schizoid formatting!)
also, you can bind this macro to the minus key, and toolbarNext to the plus key, and quickly scroll through the panes (instead of Control+Tab, etc.). the alternative to this is to use the "ui" tab command in the keybinding, instead of creating a macro for the "custom" tab.
hope that makes sense.
Rather than using Modal chat for my macros, I use the Number Pad. I write simple macros for each special move I want, then go to the Keymap and put the number I want as the key. It says "This will overwrite x are you sure?" and I ok it. NumPad just turns the camera, I use the mouse for that. I have all my weapons and armor stuck on the last pane (05) and have macros to access each weapon individually and the armor as a whole. For my main weapon type, which is usually swords I bind to the _NumPad 0_ key, It chooses my most used weapon (Curved) and sets the toolbarPane to 00, where I store my usual commands like /follow and a few of the melee moves like /lunges. To switch to VB I set it up for _Ctrl + NumPad 0_ , just press both when setting the macro in the keymap. Stun Baton is shift-NumPad 0. They all set to the correct pane. I use the _NumPad . (dot)_ key in a similar fashion with my Pistols.
You can use '/echo xxxxx ' to have the game tell you when you press a certain macro if you want, I am not sure on the exact phrasing but I think it is just "/echo You draw your sword.; " etc. Which can be useful when you can't see a dang thing on-screen like ingroup combat of any sort....
Also Imade a macro for /peace and set it to _NumPad -_ so I have 2 ways to use peace, plusmy hand is usually on the NumPad anywayin combat.
ForWarcry2 and Intimidate2 I set to _NumPad 7_ and _8_ respectively, and if I want to access the lower level versions for some reason I press _Shift+ 7 or 8_ asanother macro.
I control my pets by way of _Ctrl NumPad X_ with /tellpet macros. I'm not a CH and only have one pet at a time, so I have made sure the pets respond to commands without their names in it, by getting them retrained, So there is no "X is not available" message because I am not giving any one in particular a command as they respond to the exact same command the same way.
Since I use _NumPad . (dot)_ I would appreciate if anyone could tell what the /command for setting chase camera is, if there is one, though I use it very rarely anyway.
the chase camera keeps the camera behind you at all times. even when standing still, if you move the mouse, your body will turn. also, if the chase camera is on and you use autofollow, you will still run in the direction you are pointing. so for following, make sure it is off.
i like the numpad idea, but i have too many commands. i want everything to be one keypress, and very rarely will i use the shift or control keys. for instance, i have a "Names" macro which by pressing N, i can turn on the name display instantly. that way i can see the names of characters running in the distance (it's so hard to target them with the mouse). and another for boarding shuttles. if i'm in a hot situation and need to leave a town, i can target the ticket collector, stop running and hit B, and not have to double click two or three times. it also allows me to keep moving and healing while i board.
it is very helpful to keep the most frequently used commands very close to each other. that way you're not looking down to see what you're pressing in the heat of the moment.
i can see how if you have fewer commands, the numpad would be a better idea, so that you may avoid modal chat. i'll have to add that scenario in there. thanks for the idea!
i'll start doing some research though. once i know precisely what you want, i should have an inkling of how to accomplish it. thanks!
